今天是這首The Selfish Giant，下面有些背景
說明喔喔～
1. Bat for Lushed的主唱為這首歌搭配和聲。
2. 這首歌的背景在描述一個在蘇格蘭
Dunoon的夜晚，此處曾為美國核動力潛艇基
地。Damon回憶道：1996年時Blur曾經在這
裡舉辦一場海邊演唱會，是個非常鬼魅般的場
所，籠罩著陰沈憂傷的氣氛，能感受到過去的
美好時光。而其中的Argrll Street是Dunoon
的主要街道。
3. Damon描述，it's hard to be a lover when
the TV's on and nothing is in your eyes.
這段，雖然歌詞本身似乎看來像是日常家庭生
活畫面，但對我來說，概念上是在說某個人離
開核子潛艦陰暗的船艙，伴隨著監視器螢幕的
閃光，往大西洋中前進的感覺。而歌名 The
Selfish Giant則是在形容這艘巨大的核子潛
艦，潛伏在海底。
4. 歌詞中 hard to be a lover when the TV's on.
這句，Damon原先並不想保留，而是製作人
Richard Russell堅持留下的。他告訴Q雜誌：
我當時說，我無法，我真的不想。但我相信
Richard，因為我很有可能會錯過它，也許它
真的是一段好的歌詞。當時這句對於大家來說
都有點粗糙。我很愛電視！就像是那種你盯著
空白畫面的時刻，想著：我這輩子到底都在幹
嘛？
