【美式生活口語辨析：dream 的用法】

《用英文來實現你的夢想！》

※人從小就有夢想，所以在英文裡面我們說「孩提時的夢想」叫做 childhood dream 。而人一生當中有很多時候都是在逐夢，卻也要築夢踏實，因此我們對於「一生的夢想」會叫做 lifelong dream 。
EX. Being the owner of a no man’s land is his lifelong dream.
(當個無人島的島主是他一生的夢想。)

※至於要去實現夢想時，「實現」一字在英文中比較常用的則是 fulfill 或是realize 。
EX. He finally fulfilled his wife’s dream of opening a food bank for people living in complete destitution.
(他終於實現了他太太想要為一貧如洗的人們開設一間食物銀行的夢想。)

※另一方面，要是我們以夢想為主體時，「實現」一字則應使用 come true 來表示。
EX. I know it’s hard to believe, but your dream of winning the jackpot has come true!
(我知道這很難讓人相信，但妳想要中頭獎的夢想已經實現了！)
