不少男士都喜歡「飲返兩杯」,酒是減壓、交際應酬不可少的飲料,從中醫角度來看,酒也是一種中藥,無論是葡萄酒、啤酒、燒酒、白酒或是黃酒,都是屬性偏溫,有散寒氣、通血脈的功效,與所有食材一樣,適量及配合體質飲用可和氣行血;相反飲酒過量容易於體內聚濕、生痰、化熱,影響肝及脾臟的正常運作。加上都市人多熬夜,飲食不節制,多喝酒會令身體更為濕熱,故要適可宜止。
如你有以下症狀,可適量飲酒:
- 手足冰冷等虛寒症狀
- 手腳麻痺、關節疼痛等氣血不通的症狀
- 淋雨或感受寒濕之邪
- 外傷跌打後用作活血化瘀
如果你有以下症狀,不宜喝酒:
- 胃病

Is alcohol good for you?
Many men enjoy an alcoholic drink every now and then. Besides treating it as a stress reliever, alcohol is also an important beverage in social events. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, alcoholic drinks, be it red wine, beer, shoju, white wine, or millet wine, they are all warm in nature and can dispel cold in the body and improve blood circulation. Just like any ingredients, individuals should consume them in an appropriate amount based on their body constitutions to improve the circulation of qi and blood.
Excessive drinking can cause dampness to accumulate in the body, induce phlegm production, and clear heat, affecting the functions of the liver and spleen. Besides, city folks tend to sleep late and are not mindful of their diets. It is easier for damp heat to accumulate in their body when they consume alcoholic beverages. Hence, it is crucial not to over-indulge in these drinks.
You can have an appropriate amount of alcoholic beverages if you have these symptoms:
- Symptoms such as cold limbs
- Numbness on the limbs, joint pain and stagnation of qi and blood
- After being invaded by the dampness and cold pathogenic factors or getting wet in the rain
- Has external injuries (alcohol can invigorate the blood and clear stasis)
You should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages if you have these symptoms:
- Gastrointestinal problem
- Liver problem
- Gout
- Hypertension
- Heart diseases
- Diabetic
- Women during menstruation, pregnant women, and mothers who are breastfeeding

If you unintentionally consumed alcoholic drinks excessively and have a hangover, try eating pomelo, pear, watermelon, banana, apple, or orange, as these fruits can help relieve the condition. You can also make yourself a cup of American ginseng and dried pear tea to reduce the discomfort of a hangover.
American Ginseng tea with pear
Effects: Helps to sober up. Relieves symptoms such as heavy headedness, nausea, lack of appetite after drinking.
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon American Ginseng, 3-4 pieces dried pear
Preparation: Place all ingredients into thermos. Rinse once with hot water, add in hot water and steep for 15 minutes until aroma develops. This tea can be re-brewed until flavour weakens.

中醫理論認為前列腺肥大主要由氣滯、痰濕、濕熱等濕重狀況引起,水濕運化不暢,阻塞膀胱及尿道,如伴隨胸悶、胃口差、尿頻但尿量少而黃,宜行氣利尿清熱;如伴隨症狀為神疲乏力、怕冷、腰膝酸軟、尿頻但尿量少等,則要益腎溫陽利水。
男士步入中年,應預防前列腺問題,平日積極養生可未病先防:飲食宜清淡、少生冷及辛辣刺激;多走動,因為久坐會令前列腺長期受壓;適量進食養腎食物如夕米水、淮山、何首烏、枸杞、栗子、腰果等。
補腎緩解尿頻茶療:小紅莓桑椹蓮子茶
功效:疏肝補腎,紓緩抑鬱情緒、心神不寧、尿頻等症狀。
材料:小紅莓4-5粒、桑椹9克、枸杞子9克、蓮子20克
做法:材料洗淨,加入1000毫升水,武火煮滾後轉文火煮20分鐘,可倒入保溫瓶反覆沖泡至味淡。建議連續飲用1-2天。

Do you think the strength of the urinary stream in men has to do with their sexual prowess? The answer is no, because the strength of the urinary stream is closely associated with the functions of the bladder and urethra. If after-dribble occurs, then we need to pay attention to the prostate.
As we age, the prostate, which is located beneath the bladder, will elongate and press against the bladder and urethra. If this happens alongside other accompanying symptoms such as chest tightness, appetite loss, frequent urination but with a small volume of urine, it is best for us to clear the heat and eliminate the dampness from the body. If the accompanying symptoms are fatigue, aversion to cold, weakness and soreness in the knees, frequent urination with a large volume of urine, we need to strengthen the kidneys and promote urination.
Upon entering middle age, men should take good care of their health whether they have a prostate problem or not. Since prevention is better than cure, have lighter diets and avoid consuming raw and cold food and beverages. Go for a brisk walk regularly as sitting for long hours can extra pressure on the prostate gland. Consume an appropriate amount of ingredients that can nourish the kidneys such as dusk rice water, Chinese yam, Polygonum multiflorum (‘he shou wu’), wolfberry, chestnut, and cashew nut.

Cranberry and mulberry tea with lotus seeds
Effects: Soothes the liver and replenishes the kidneys. Relieves depression, restlessness, and frequent urination.
Ingredients: 4-5 cranberries, 9g mulberry, 9g wolfberries, 20g lotus seeds
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 1000ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes. This tea can be re-brewed until its flavour weakens. Drink consecutively for 1-2 days for best results.
