University Sells Bullied Boy’s Homemade Tee

Summary:
What was ugly wasn’t the homemade T-shirt of the fourth-grade boy, who made his best effort to show his genuine admiration for the University of Tennessee on his school’s “college colours day”, but the hearts of those girls who didn’t participate but teased him about his design. Little did the distressed child know that his feelings, all thanks to his caring teacher, reached the institution, which not only sent him and his class a whole package of UT gifts, but even made his tee their official merch.

Little did sb. know (ph.)(某人當時並不知道的是…)
這固定用語只會以過去式和倒裝句構使用，該 little 並非形容詞的「細小的」而是副詞的「很少」，全句意思是某人當時意想不到某事情會發生，或是原來事實是怎樣。視乎句意，know 改為 think「覺得」或 realise「省悟到」等也可以。
e.g. I waved goodbye to my family on the ship, dreaming about my new life across the ocean. Little did I know that it was the last time I saw them.
e.g. The soldiers advanced as the enemies fell back, but little did they realise they were walking into a trap.

「追風箏的孩子」作者再一力作，大推！
裡面有好多很生動流暢的描述、精鍊的辭藻，而且也有好多高中重點單字及句型文法，俐媽想和大家分享，今天先推出Part I分享篇喔！
<3 劇情摘要重點單字：
poverty (n.) 貧窮
trade (v.) 交換；(n.) 貿易
set off (phrase) 出發
fateful (a.) 決定命運的
<3 重點句型：
It was in the 1990s that fughting at least brought...
--> 強調句用法：It was + 強調部分(可為人、物、地、時) + that...
It was me to whom the doctor spoke most often.
--> 此句亦為「強調句」，而片語speak to sb表「和...人說話」，介系詞to向前移到關代that之前，而因that前面不可有逗點及介系詞，因此that改為受格關代whom。
He called for his father again and again, a claw tightening itself around his windpipe.
--> 除了大家很熟悉的分詞構句，也要多學習一下獨立分詞構句。原句為：He called for his father..., and a claw tightened itself...，其中連接詞and被省略，主詞he以及a claw不相同，故a claw留下，再將動詞改為表主動的tightening。這是生動寫作的其中一種常見手法。
I felt as though I had been the one cuckolded.
--> as though即等於as if，表「彷彿」，為假設語氣的一種，所以與過去事實相反，要改用過去完成式(had been the one...)
What if he fell into a well, or got lost?
--> what if亦為假設語氣，時態一樣要退一步，文中原為現在式，故退成了過去式(fell into...got lost...)
I had little trouble carrying him for I was still young and able.
--> have trouble/problem/difficulty + Ving為固定句型，而文中的for是連接詞，表「因為」。
