🌳 Brood X 第10蟬群

In backyards and forests all across the eastern United States, Brood X is beginning to emerge. With their red eyes and shiny black bodies, the legions of Brood X may seem like some kind of alien invader. But these strange creatures aren’t aliens, and they aren’t invaders either—they’ve been here all along. What are they? Cicadas!
在美國東部的家庭後院和森林，第10蟬群開始現身。有著紅眼睛跟漆黑發亮的身體，第10蟬群軍團就像是某種外星入侵者。不過這些奇怪的生物不是外星來的，也不是入侵者，它們一直都在這裡。它們到底是什麼？牠們是蟬！

There are over 3,000 species of cicadas around the world, but what makes Magicicada—seven closely related species of North American cicada—unique is their 13 to 17 year life cycle, the longest of any cicada. Most other cicada species have life cycles that last just three to five years. Of the 12 broods of 17-year cicadas that can be found in the U.S., Brood X is the largest—both in terms of geographic distribution and population size.
地球上一共有三千多種的蟬，不過這種名為 Magicicada 的物種（是北美蟬中密切相關的七個物種），其獨特之處在於，牠們的生命週期長達13到17年，是所有種類的蟬中生命最長的。其他大多數的蟬物種，其生命週期只能持續3到5年。在美國境內的12個17年蟬群中，就屬第10蟬群規模最大、分布最廣。

Brood X territory covers 15 states, from Illinois in the Midwest to Georgia in the South and New York in the Northeast—with major concentrations in Maryland, Indiana, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. But their numbers are even more impressive. An acre of soil—they spend most of their lives underground—can contain over a million cicadas, and a single generation of Brood X may consist of billions and even trillions of the insects!
第10蟬群的分布範圍含括15個州，從美國中西部的伊利諾州，到南部的喬治亞州與東北部的紐約州，主要集中於馬里蘭州、印第安納州、德拉瓦州、新澤西州與賓州。不過牠們的數量更是驚人，牠們多數時間生活在地下，一英畝的土壤可以容納約一百萬隻蟬，而第10蟬群的一代約有數十億甚至數兆隻！

The current generation of Brood X got its start in 2004, back when Facebook was only available to Harvard students. At that time, newly hatched cicada nymphs fell from trees and burrowed underground, where they feed on the sap of tree and grass roots and slowly mature over the next 17 years. Now they’re slowly beginning to emerge from the soil, climb back up into the trees and molt into their adult form. Then they’ll have just a few weeks to sing their high-pitched songs, mate, and lay their eggs before their short adult lives end.
第10蟬群最新的一代始於2004年，當時臉書才剛起步。那年剛孵出的蟬幼蟲從樹上掉下去，鑽到地下，在地底下牠們以樹汁草汁為食，並在接下來的17年裡慢慢成熟。現在正是牠們慢慢地從土壤中冒出、爬回樹上並蛻變為成年型態的時候。接著，牠們只有幾週的時間可以鳴唱高音調的歌曲、進行交配、產卵，然後牠們短暫的成年生活就此結束。

Early European settlers in America called these insects “locusts,” because they reminded them of the swarms of locusts God used to punish the wicked in the Bible. But unlike locusts, which can damage crops and cause famines, cicadas are largely harmless. After emerging, they don’t eat plants like other insects. In fact, they don’t eat anything at all. Some people may find large swarms of cicadas scary, but they’re quite a sight to see! And if you can’t make it to the U.S. this year, don’t worry—Brood X will be back for another visit in 2038.

Exposing the Four Horsemen

“I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!” And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!” Another came out, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword. When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand. I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!” When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.” (Revelation‬ ‭6:1-8‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

In this world there are demons wreaking havoc, but the major calamities that affect the whole world are set in motion by the four horsemen that apostle John saw in his vision.

They are evil spirits that were released when Jesus unsealed the title deed to the earth, after His resurrection.

The one on the white horse causes religious deception. He appears like Jesus who will return on a white horse at His Second Coming. This horseman raises false Messiahs and an apostate church.

We see this horseman at work in the heretical sects that closely imitate Christianity but are actually leading multitudes to damnation.

Jesus warned of this horseman when He said that many would come in His name and pretend to be Him.

The one on the red horse ignites wars. In recent times we see tensions, fightings in the Middle East and the relationship between big world powers treading on thin ice.

Jesus warned of this horseman when He said there would be wars and rumors of wars, as well as nation rising against nation.

The one on the black horse causes famine and economic chaos. Economic hyperinflation, depressions and starvation are instigated by this horseman.

The prices for the wheat and barley in the passage are highly inflated, showing us that this horseman causes economic chaos.
When you see major stock market crashes or crises related to natural resources, this horseman’s surely got a hand in it.

Jesus warned of this when He said there would be famines.

Finally we have the one on the pale horse called Death. Death has the authority to kill in various ways, and the way I haven’t mentioned yet is natural disasters, plagues and pestilence, such as the bushfires in Australia, volcanic eruption in Philippines an the coronavirus that emerged from Wuhan in China.

Jesus warned of Death when He said plagues and earthquakes would happen.

“Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.” (Matthew‬ ‭24:4-8‬ ‭WEB‬)

These four horsemen work closely with Hades, who is the evil spirit who rules Hell. Their collective goal before the Tribulation is to cause destruction on earth and drag as many souls down to Hell as possible.

In these end times, those villains are rampaging more intensely than ever before.

The solution is in the passage above. The four living creatures before God’s throne invite us to “Come and see”.
When we see this truth in God’s word, the four horsemen and their nefarious activities can’t remain hidden.

When you know that these are some of the major culprits behind the world’s calamities, you will know what to pray against.

God never shows us something without inviting us to pray about it. Through prayer, we become fellow workers with Him, to make earth as it is in Heaven.

Let’s pray together: “In Jesus’ name and by His blood, we bind the four horsemen and declare them powerless to continue their evil activities. We loose God’s power to restore all the victims. Let life and life more abundantly be poured out upon this earth. When sin abounded through the four horsemen, we declare superabounding grace for a massive harvest of souls for God’s kingdom worldwide. We pray this together in Jesus’ name, Amen!”

The four living creatures have faces that correspond to the four aspects of Jesus revealed in the four gospels.

“Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven...But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.”” (Luke‬ ‭21:10-11, 28‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

If you think this world is going to get better, you’re kidding yourself.

Even though it’s becoming more technologically advanced, the moral decline is terrible.

It’s like going back to the days of Noah where people did whatever wickedness they wanted, exalting themselves without any care for God.

It’s going to get worse and worse. The Bible promises it.

But believers have an unshakable hope in Christ.

We are not trying to put bandages to revive a world that is going to be judged by God.

Instead, we are calling as many people as we can to place their faith in Jesus, to look forward to His return for us.

Just in the beginning of this year, we have seen so many tragedies worldwide. The bushfires in Australia, the volcano eruption in Philippines, the tension in the Middle East, continuing violent protests in Hong Kong, the spread of coronavirus from Wuhan China...these are just some examples.

Even though the world is fainting from fear and anxiety because of the disasters, plagues and rumors of wars, we children of God can expect our path to get brighter and brighter because we are righteous in Christ.

As the world gets darker, the church of Jesus Christ will shine brighter. The world will be drawn to our light and this will spark forth the greatest harvest of souls for God’s kingdom that the world has ever seen!

Just like how Joseph predicted the seven years of great plenty before the seven years of severe famine, we are in that period of great plenty now.

The fields have never been riper for the harvest. Once the trumpet sounds, our bodies are going to be transformed and that marks the end of our time to make an impact on this world.

We’ll be in Heaven with Jesus, watching the rest of the events unfold, as the world goes through the hour of testing—the Tribulation.

For those who are fiercely campaigning for protecting the environment, God Himself is going to destroy the environment when He pours out His bowls and trumpets of wrath upon the world.

Right now, His priority is surely to save the people of the earth, not saving the environment.
When Jesus sets up His Millennial reign on earth, the environment will be healed by the river of the water of life proceeding from His throne and the leaves of the trees of life.
We don’t have to worry about that—God will do it Himself.

Church, your time to leave an impact for eternity is now. Redeem the time and walk wisely, for time is short till our Lord’s return.

Walk in love like never before. Listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. Pray for His guidance, power and wisdom so that you can be an effective fellow worker with Him. Preach the Gospel, or else sponsor the going forth of the Gospel. Your eternal rewards will be great!
