Phil（林奕匡）剛推出的新專輯《Finding Charlie》，當中的Charlie指的是色士風大師Charlie Parker，亦是Phil由中學開始已崇拜的偶像。Phil表示，當年甫聽到他的作品，便已覺得相當驚艷。Charlie Parker既可以說是Phil音樂上的啟蒙，也代表了他投身音樂的初心。「正如我去年到了美國進修和創作，其實也是在尋找自己的初衷，回歸當年讀書的感覺，所以Finding Charlie就是這個意思。」

據Phil所言，《Finding Charlie》是他有史以來花最多時間和心血製作的一張專輯，每一首歌曲的音樂性都相當豐富，讓他絞盡腦汁。「例如是〈精神時間房〉，demo的名字是〈tug of war〉，即是拔河，旋律上也有那種拉扯的張力。這首歌非常難唱，但很好玩，有點fusion的味道。」Phil創作這首歌的時候，選擇以drumbeat先行，然後才加上鋼琴和其他樂器，在作曲和編曲上皆作出新嘗試。「至於歌詞，我本來不明白『精神時間房』是甚麼意思，但填詞人陳詠謙解釋，是漫畫《龍珠》中閉關修煉的房間，在裡面修煉一天，等如外面修煉一年。我忽然想，我去Berklee讀書，不就是進入了精神時間房嗎？」

又例如是專輯中另一首歌曲〈大寂寞時代〉，是Phil少有的帶電子音樂味道的作品。「這首歌不是一般的verse-chorus form，而是有五、六個不同的部分，變化很多。」Phil笑言，此歌寫得很大膽，因為本來不打算自己唱，「它比較適合樂隊、多人演奏。但公司聽了卻又很喜歡，那我便自己唱吧。」除了旋律變化多樣，此歌的和音亦多達二十多條，全都是Phil自己在家中灌錄的。「因為疫情影響，唯有如此，為此更特地買了新的咪高峰和軟件，又在衣櫃外掛上大衣和棉被來吸音。但自己錄和音真的很困難，因為沒有監製為你判斷好壞，而且也容易因歌曲中的其他元素而分心。」
