表達負面意思的難題
．否定疑問句
回答否定疑問句時，不論你是贊同對方與否，只要你的答案是正面的，就答 yes；答案是負面的，就答 no。「沒有上學」是負面的，故應答no；但如果有上學，應答 yes。
A: Didn’t you go to school today?
B: No, I didn’t.〔我沒有上學。〕(Correct) / Yes, I did.〔我有上學。〕(Correct)
就算問題用了 question tag 形式也好，規則也是一樣：
A: You didn’t go to school today, did you?
B: No, I didn’t.〔我沒有上學。〕(Correct)
．否定直述句
如果要說 Kenneth 英文科考試取得佳績，而 Marc 也是一樣，英文可用以下說法：
• Kenneth obtained excellent results in English. Marc obtained excellent results too.
當然這樣說很累贅。簡單一點，可以說成：
• Kenneth obtained excellent results in English, and Marc as well. (Correct)
• Just like Kenneth, Marc obtained excellent results in English as well. (Correct)
• Kenneth obtained excellent results in English; so did Marc. (Correct)
（這句用“did”是因為前半句的 “obtained” 是 verb-to-do，而且用了 past tense。）
謹記在否定句中，我們會用 either、neither、nor 或 neither...nor，例如：
• Rita does not speak Korean and Louise does not either. (Correct)
• Rita does not speak Korean; neither does Louise. (Correct)
• Rita does not speak Korean; nor does Louise. (Correct)
• Neither Rita nor Louise speaks Korean. (Correct)
順帶一提，第四句動詞前的名詞是Louise，故用單數動詞speaks；但若果動詞前是眾數名詞，則用眾數動詞 speak，例如：
• Neither Rita nor other Kenneth’s team members speak Korean.
