A QUARANTINE GROWTH-It has been an absolutely unique and challenging situation to me to choreograph a piece of work on myself which is going to be presented at the opening night of Iron Rose Festival in Taiwan, part of the reopening of the Performing Arts Center this Saturday. My last time on stage was in October last year in Barcelona, Spain, and then stopped for a good chunk of time to recover from injuries. By February, I was ready and looking forward to returning to the stages, and then the outbreak took over. All the performing arts, theater activities stopped, and so did I . I comforted myself and thought “I think god wanted me to rest more, so I could fully recover from the injuries...”. Part of my work , teaching has moved to virtual based as most of the educational institutions did. I was glad I could still stay connected with my students and community...in a different way. But, nothing can take over live performances, not virtual live, the direct and very fine connection between the performers and audiences is not replaceable. It was quite overwhelming for me to be back on the stage after more than half year. When I walked onto the stage doing the tech rehearsal for the festival this Saturday, the memories of all the past performances appeared, and the sensation and impulse of wanting to devour the entire space emerged.
