蔥蒜屬五辛類,在中醫角度而言,是屬辛溫,有助發汗的食物。假如你是因風寒而引起外感,吃一點蔥蒜可以有利陽氣生發,祛風散寒,可以有助舒緩因風寒引致的初發感冒。但要注意,正因這類辛辣食物辛溫,吃多了有可能會令身體積熱,而你本身又是體質偏熱,屬陰虛火旺的人,就不適合了。不同的五辛有不一樣的功效,但主要都可發汗。
大蒜﹣性溫。有行氣、暖脾胃及開胃健脾的功效。能舒緩初起的風寒感冒、食滯等症狀。可生食或煮粥。
洋蔥﹣性溫。有發散風寒,行氣化痰的功效。蒸洋蔥水這偏方較能舒緩風寒感冒的症狀如怕冷無汗、鼻塞流清涕,相反發燒、咽痛、有黃痰者未必適合。
蔥﹣性溫。有發汗解表,通陽氣散陰寒的作用,能舒緩初起的風寒感冒、鼻敏感、頭痛、胃寒等症狀。蔥白3條(只要白色部分連根洗淨),淡豆豉10克,500毫升水,水滾後煮10分鐘。

Onion and garlic are part of the five strong vegetables group. From a Chinese medicine perspective, they are acrid-warm in nature and helps to promote sweating. If you have a cold due to wind-chill, having some garlic or onion can help to stimulate yang qi, expel wind and cold, and relieve the beginning symptoms of a flu. It is important to note, due to the acrid-nature of these food, you may accumulate heat if they are over consumed. If you have a warmer-nature to start, and have yin deficient and excessive heat, then onion and garlic are not suitable for you. The five strong vegetables each have different effects but they can all promote sweating.
Garlic- warm in nature. Promotes qi circulation, warms the spleen and stomach, improves appetite and strengthens spleen. Relieves beginning symptoms of wind-chill flu and food stasis. Can be eaten raw or with congee.
Onion- warm in nature. Dispels wind and cold, promotes qi circulation and decrease phlegm. Steamed onion water can relieve symptoms of wind-chill flu such as aversion to cold without sweat, stuffy nose with clear mucus. It is not suitable for those experiencing fever, sore throat and yellow phlegm.
Spring onion- warm in nature. Induces sweating, activate yang qi to dispel yin chill. Relieves beginning symptoms of wind-chill flu, nasal allergies, headaches, and cold stomach.
3 Stem of spring onion (just the white portions with roots, rinse clean), 10 light fermented soy beans, 500g water, cook on high heat until boiling then simmer for 10 minutes.

熊膽以前是透過捕捉野熊取的,但亦因此亞洲黑熊(月熊)的數量下降了不少,促使中國在1984年開始養熊, 並以持續從熊膽抽取膽汁但不殺熊的方式取膽汁。現時估計有2萬隻膽熊在中國,越南,老撾,韓國和緬甸被圈養,其中一半關在籠子裡的熊都在中國。
1. 然而養熊的方法沒有減少被捕捉的野熊數量。相反,熊膽產業的增長導致對熊膽產品的需求增加。而野熊亦繼續被捕殺,因為野生熊的膽汁比養殖熊的膽汁價值更高。

Bear bile used to be obtained from hunting wild bears and removing their gall bladders, but a decrease in the number of wild Asiatic black bears and demand for a method of consistently extracting bear bile led to bear bile farming beginning in China in 1984. An estimated 20,000 bile bears are kept in captivity in China, Vietnam, Laos, Korea, and Myanmar, half of which are in China.
1. Bear farming has not caused the poaching of wild bears to decrease. Instead, the growth of the bear bile industry has led to increased demand for bear bile products, and wild bears continue to be hunted as bile extracted from wild bears is perceived as being more valuable than bile from farmed bears.
2. The Asiatic black bear is listed on CITES Appendix I and considered as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The Chinese government made it illegal to hunt bears for their parts, but a number of rescued bears are missing limbs, suggesting that these laws are clearly being violated.
3. Asiatic black bears caught as cubs may live in crush cages and be farmed for as long as 20 to 30 years. Bears that outlive their most productive years, which typically occurs after around 10 years of age, are sometimes killed for their body parts, some of which are considered delicacies.
