It's the last day of Circuit Breaker and congrats, you survived! Most importantly, nobody got murdered in my house. 🤣 (I did cut up a lot of chicken carcasses though)

Somehow, someway, we got through two months of staying at home - studying, playing, cooking, eating, lazing - relatively unscathed. Sure, we did irritate each other, get one one another's nerves, and raise our voices, but we made it.

For me, I thought I knew my teens perfectly like the back of my hand. But I was wrong. These two months of CB gave me the chance to understand them even more. Like how they interact with their peers in school. Pre-Covid, I usually only get to talk to them at night after I return from work and during the weekends. But for the past two months, I listened in as my sons chatted with their friends during online lessons and also when they play online games together. It opened my eyes (and ears) to another side of them that I hardly see and hear, like how they trash-talk one another as a form of bantering. (Luckily no swearing...yet 😅) Before this, they used to do it to each other at home and my wife and I always chastise them for being rude. Now I realise it is just the teens’ way of communicating.

Perhaps this Covid thingy is a way of forcing us to push the reset button, take stock of our current blessings and cherish them even more. Or perhaps some see it as a punishment and pure torture. Who can really judge? But this I know: we probably had eaten, watched TV, played, snacked, exercised together as a family more than we ever could pre-Covid and for that, I am thankful.
