2018-01-14 21:14:33J.R. Smith was a one-man breakaway, his eyes widening as he sprang toward the basket, the ball rising over his head for a rim-rattling windmill dunk.
Clank!
It bounced off the iron and back toward halfcourt, the crowd moaning and coach George Karl nearly tipping over backward in his chair.
That one play both epitomized the Nuggets' shoddy, senseless play Saturday night and ignited the short-handed Sacramento Kings to a surprising 118-115 win that dealt the Nuggets a blow to their playoff plans.
"There's no reason for this team to come in here and beat us on our own floor, as good as we were playing on this floor," Allen Iverson said after the Nuggets fell to 31-8 at home. "They were playing without their two best players. No reason for it. It's unacceptable."
Kevin Martin scored 36 points despite missing Sacramento's shootaround with the stomach flu and the Kings capitalized on Kenyon Martin's one-game suspension by getting 29 points from Francisco Garcia and 23 from Mikki Moore.
"We didn't have a stopper mentality, a guy that could help us with those guys," lamented Karl, who was so incensed at K-Mart's suspension that he had a heated conversation with NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson earlier in the week.
The Kings, out of playoff contention and missing Ron Artest (thumb) and Brad Miller (leg), won their fourth straight game and snapped Denver's nine-game home winning streak. They took advantage of sloppy play and silly mistakes by the Nuggets, who got 47 points from Carmelo Anthony, two shy of his career high.
Kevin Martin gave them more than they could have hoped for, sinking all 13 of his free throws and converting a trio of 3-pointers.
"Kevin was not healthy," Kings coach Reggie Theus said. "He played through it. His stomach was hurting. He didn't even make it to shooting practice. I wasn't sure I was even going to play him. Kevin said he wanted to play, and you saw the results."
Instead of moving into a seventh-place tie with Dallas, Denver fell into a tie with idle Golden State for the eighth and final playoff spot in the wild Western Conference. The Nuggets visit the Warriors on Thursday night in a game that's suddenly a must-win.
"The sun will come up tomorrow and we're still tied," Karl said. "We kind of gave back the little bit that we've earned. But giving up 118 points to that team was disappointing."
Artest was a late scratch with a strained left thumb, seemingly negating any advantage Sacramento might have had facing a Nuggets team without Kenyon Martin, who had to sit out after picking up his sixth flagrant foul of the season.
Despite playing poorly, the Nuggets had a chance on their final possession to send the game into overtime.
After a timeout with 4.3 seconds left, J.R. Smith inbounded the ball to Marcus Camby, who gave it right back, but Smith's 3-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the front of the iron and high off the backboard.
"He's the best guy on our team making the tough 3, and with four seconds to go, you're probably going to get a tough 3," Karl said. "And I've seen him make the shot he took."
Linas Kleiza started in place of Kenyon Martin and scored 28 points, 21 in the first 18 minutes, helping Denver take a 41-32 lead. The Nuggets looked as if they were going to cruise to an easy win even without K-Mart, by far their best player over the last 1 1/2 months.
It was the Kings, however, who went to the locker room with a 59-56 lead behind 17 first-half points from their own K-Mart.
"In the second quarter we lost our discipline, our mental direction," Karl said. "We thought the game was going to be easy. J.R. missed a dunk and we kind of got sloppy with the basketball."
Iverson cringed as the Nuggets began to fritter away their early 12-point lead.
"They just played better than us, and there's no reason for that. As serious as this game was, and the magnitude of this game, there's no reason for it," he said. "I told 'Melo during the first half when they came back and took the lead and the momentum was going their way, I told him I didn't feel good about this game."
And now he doesn't feel so good about the Nuggets' tenuous hold on a playoff spot, either.
"I'm definitely concerned if we're going to play like this," Iverson said. "We've got to play better teams than them down the stretch. I'm confident, but, yeah, I'm concerned." -

2016-01-07 00:32:00Derrick Coleman sank the winning jumper with two-tenths of a
second left and Allen Iverson added 27 points as the
Philadelphia 76ers rallied from a 20-point deficit and ended an
11-game losing streak in Phoenix with an 85-84 victory over the
Suns.
Coleman's open 17-footer from the left of the basket capped a
22-5 game-ending run and gave the 76ers' their first win at
Phoenix since December 28th, 1985. He finished with 18 points
and 10 rebounds.
"It's a play we call `clock,'" explained Coleman. "It's when
the shot clock is down low. Al and Theo (Ratliff) screen my man
low and I pop out and take the jump shot... no, I wasn't sure
that it was going in."
Iverson scored 13 of his points in the final 8:13. With
Philadelphia trailing 79-63 after a bucket by Steve Nash with
8:31 remaining, Iverson led an 18-2 charge as the Sixers forged
an 81-81 deadlock on two free throws by Theo Ratliff with just
over a minute left.
"I think we did a great job on defense," Iverson said. "That's
always the key. I couldn't buy a shot the whole game and my
teammates and the coaching staff still have the confidence to
come back to me. It made me feel good and pump me up and I got
going in the fourth."
Phoenix's Cliff Robinson sank a free throw before Philadelphia
took the lead when Iverson capitalized on Rex Chapman's turnover
by hitting a pair from the line. Kevin Johnson countered at 52
seconds with the Suns' first field goal since Nash's shot. But
Coleman's game-winner lifted the 76ers to their second straight
road win.
Robinson finished with 21 points and Danny Manning added 15 for
the Suns, who committed 23 turnovers that were exchanged for 25
points by Philadelphia.
Phoenix, which held a 62-42 cushion after Chapman's
three-pointer with 10:00 left in the third period, had a
five-game winning streak snapped.
The Suns shot 61 percent in the first half before going cold in
the final 24 minutes, shooting an abysmal 9-of-35 (26 percent)
from the field and tying their all-time low for a half with 27
points.
Antonio McDyess scored all 11 of his points in the first quarter
as the Suns jumped out to a 31-24 lead. They continued to pull
away in the second, taking a 57-39 lead at halftime.
The Sixers narrowed the gap to 12 points after three periods and
shut down Phoenix in the fourth, holding them to just 12 points
and 4-of-19 shooting from the field.
"Oh, man that was ugly," said Phoenix coach Danny Ainge. "That
was a terrible second half of basketball. A classic example of
us flirting with disaster. We have a tendency to do that and it
finally got us."
Iverson got the best of counterpart Jason Kidd, who finished
with six points and 10 assists, but only two and four in the
second half. Iverson, who went 8-of-20 from the field, did most
of his damage from the line, hitting 10-of-11 from the stripe --
6-of-6 in the final quarter -- to go along with five assists.
The win kicks off a four-game western road swing that takes the
Sixers to Los Angeles to face the Clippers before they go on to
Denver and San Antonio.
"In the first half we didn't guard anybody," said Sixers coach
Larry Brown. "In the second half we started to guard people. Our
big guys were tremendous and our bench came in and really
guarded. This is as good a win as we could ever have."

//The Taliban has capitalized on the agricultural stress and distrust in government to recruit supporters. Alam said the group has the means to pay fighters more, $5-$10 per day, than what they can make farming.
"[Farmers] fall into choices. That's when they become prey to people who would tell them, 'Look, the government is screwing you over and this land should be productive. They're not helping you. Come and join us; let's topple this government,'" said Nadim Farajalla, director of the climate change and environment program at the American University of Beirut.//

This post will be describing the incident that has happened earlier today, and I would like everyone to be aware and not accidentally give away personal information to a fake account.
This morning when I woke up, I received notifications and questions from friends and everyone, regarding a Facebook account pretending to be mine. *I would like to remind everyone again that this account is not created by me!!!*
This account was recently created and used the same name and profile as my own. My page link is siutaoCOS, and this fake account used siutaoC0S, changing the capitalized [O] in the link name to the numeral [0] zero to befuddle everyone.
During that time, the account created a post that asked everyone to fill in their information in a suspicious website, which was created under a fake identity, attempting to scam personal and credit card information.
Upon discovery, I have posted clarifications and requested everyone to assist in reporting the post. My clarifications were posted on my page, Instagram and personal account.
The scammer messaged my page directly after my revealing that the account was a fake, and asked why I wanted to ruin him, and even harshly scolded me in return for no reason. After that, with the assistance of everyone, the scammer deleted all related information to the attempted scam and changed his profile and cover picture to avoid Facebook’s automated investigation system. In the end, Facebook declared that there was no issue with the scammer’s account.
At this point I was powerless to do anything. 😢
I would like to thank everyone’s efforts in reporting the account, and though it was not successful, I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone to be aware, and not get scammed by impersonation efforts.😭🙏🏻💦
If by any chance you had filled in personal information or other information, please immediately change all passwords and information, and contact relevant agencies if necessary. This is to prevent misuse of your information and linked accounts.
*****I would also like to mention, that I would not randomly add friends into my personal account, unless it was a public notice, privately discussed or agreed upon.
(I would like everyone to understand that I need some personal space as well🙏🏻😢).
This is my only page on Facebook and I have no other pages!!! (The Singapore and Vietnam Fan Pages were approved by me, and they are not fake accounts or impersonators.)
Apart from direct sales, I will never request for information from anyone. This information from sales will not be disclosed to anyone else or to a third party! In the future, if anyone notices an impersonator or fake account, please help me to report them!😭🙏🏻******
Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me, believed in me and helped out! Love you all! 😭🙏🏻❤️
