噩 耗 傳 來 ， 已 故 前 港 督 麥 理 浩 勳 爵 的 遺 孀 麥 鄧 麗 娉 夫 人 二 月 十 六 日 在 英 國 蘇 格 蘭 逝 世 ， 終 年 九 十 九 歲 。

麥 夫 人 一 九 二 零 年 生 於 英 國 蘇 格 蘭 ， 系 出 名 門 ， 一 九 四 七 年 下 嫁 任 職 外 交 官 麥 理 浩 勳 爵 。 麥 氏 在 一 九 五 九 年 至 六 二 年 在 任 職 香 港 政 府 政 治 顧 問 期 間 ， 麥 夫 人 也 在 聖 保 祿 學 校 任 職 中 學 教 師 ， 學 生 包 括 吳 靄 儀 博 士 。

一 九 七 一 年 至 一 九 八 二 年 擔 任 港 督 夫 人 期 間 ， 麥 夫 人 對 推 動 香 港 公 益 事 業 不 遺 餘 力 ， 當 中 包 括 在 一 九 七 一 年 至 一 九 七 六 年 出 任 香 港 公 益 金 會 長 ， 以 及 在 一 九 七 五 年 一 手 促 成 香 港 傷 健 策 騎 協 會 成 立 。 位 於 西 貢 的 麥 理 浩 夫 人 渡 假 村 和 香 港 聖 公 會 麥 理 浩 夫 人 中 心 ， 均 以 麥 夫 人 命 名 。

麥 夫 人 熱 愛 大 自 然 ， 在 港 生 活 期 間 與 丈 夫 遊 遍 香 港 郊 野 ， 並 大 力 支 持 植 物 學 家 胡 秀 英 在 香 港 最 偏 遠 的 地 區 採 集 植 物 標 本 。

自 麥 理 浩 勳 爵 退 休 後 ， 麥 夫 人 跟 隨 丈 夫 返 回 蘇 格 蘭 隱 居 。 兩 人 育 有 一 對 孖 生 女 兒 ， 麥 督 在 二 零 零 零 年 仙 遊 後 ， 其 中 一 位 女 兒 也 在 二 零 零 七 年 辭 世 。

麥 理 浩 勳 爵 夫 人 的 離 世 代 表 一 個 時 代 的 終 結 ， 也 是 香 港 的 沉 重 損 失 ， 本 頁 謹 致 深 切 軫 悼 ， 她 的 身 影 將 永 存 港 人 心 中 ！

【Breaking: Lady MacLehose dies at 99】

With profound sadness, this page would like to report the sad passing of Lady Noel MacLehose, widow of former Governor of Hong Kong the Lord MacLehose of Beoch, at Scotland, the United Kingdom, on 16 February. She was 99.

Born into a respectable family in 1920 in Scotland, the United Kingdom, Lady MacLehose was married to the Lord MacLehose of Beoch in 1947. When her husband was the Political Advisor to the Hong Kong Government from 1959 to 1962, she taught at St. Paul's Convent School as a secondary school teacher. Her pupils included Dr Margaret Ng.

When she became the wife of the Governor from 1971 and 1982, Lady MacLehose played an active role in promoting the social welfare of Hong Kong. She was the President of the Community Chest from 1971 to 1976 and she pushed through the establishment of the Riding for the Disabled Association of Hong Kong in 1975. The Lady MacLehose Holiday Village in Sai Kung and HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre are named in her honour.

A nature lover, Lady MacLehose visited every part of Hong Kong's countryside with her husband during their time in Hong Kong. She also provided full support to botanist Dr Shiu-Ying Hu in collecting plant samples from the most remote areas of Hong Kong.

Since the retirement of the Lord MacLehose, Lady MacLehose had returned to Scotland with her husband to spend a quiet life. Sadly, her husband passed away in 2000, to be followed by one of her twin daughters in 2007.

The passing of Lady MacLehose marks the end of a great era of Hong Kong and is undoubtedly a profound loss to Hong Kong. She will be dearly missed by generations of Hong Kong people.
