If you ever had Bang Bang Shrimp at the Bonefish Grill, here is a simple version but no less delicious recipe. Sweet Chili Sauce can be found at Asian Markets or online such as Amazon. BANG BANG SHRIMP
1 lb large shrimp, shelled and deveined
½ cup buttermilk
1 cup cornstarch
¼ cup sweet chili sauce for spring rolls
½ cup mayonnaise
1 tsp Sriracha hot chili sauce
Preheat oil to 350° in a deep fryer or skillet. Soak shrimp in buttermilk*, dredge in cornstarch, and deep fry for about 2 minutes. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
In a bowl, add sweet chili sauce, mayonnaise, Sriracha hot chili sauce, and mix well.
Add shrimp, toss to coat, and serve.
*You can also make buttermilk by adding ½ tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice to enough whole milk to make ½ cup.
