食滯胃氣有臭味
陳生：「平日食飽都會有胃氣走出來，最近更加頻密，而且帶有臭味，是胃病嗎？」

CheckCheckCin：氣從胃中上逆，中醫稱之為「噯氣」，胃氣以降為順，胃氣上逆的話代表「胃失和降」，如果胃氣帶有腐臭味，多為食滯所致，如果進食過量或進食不定時，脾胃未能及時消化，食物渣滓阻塞於胃臟停滯不前，就會容易出現噯氣、胸悶鬱結、食慾不振、大便有酸腐臭味甚至便秘症狀。
遇上食滯情況就需要消食導滯，飲用由穀芽、麥芽、陳皮沖泡的茶療，有助紓緩因飲食不節引起的消化不良及胃脹不適。亦可以按壓中脘穴，有和胃健脾、紓緩胃脹、胃痛的作用。

麥芽穀芽陳皮茶
功效：行氣消滯，紓緩因飲食不節引起的消化不良、胃脹不適等症狀。
材料：麥芽6克、穀芽6克 、陳皮6克
做法：材料洗淨，將陳皮切絲。把所有材料放入茶袋，放入保溫瓶，加入熱開水沖洗茶袋，把水倒掉，再加入熱開水焗20分鐘即可。
注意：麥芽能回乳，哺乳期婦女不宜飲用。

中脘穴
位置：位於腹部，胸骨下端與肚臍連接線中點，肚臍直上約6隻手指位。
功效：和胃健脾，紓緩胃痛、胃脹、腹痛、消化不良等症狀。
注意：不宜於飯後兩小時內進行。

Odor from food stagnancy in stomach
“I tend to burp after each meal, it seems to happen more frequently these days, and the burps have an odor. Do I have some kind of stomach disease?”

CheckCheckCin: From Chinese Traditional Medicine’s understanding, gas from the stomach that moves upwards in the body is belching (‘ai qi’). Stomach gas normally travels downwards, if it moves at the opposite direction, this means you are experiencing a disorder that prohibits the gas from propelling downwards. Gas that has a rancid odor is most probably caused by food stagnation.

If we consume food excessively or have irregular meals, the spleen and stomach are unable to process them on time, food particles can stagnate inside in the stomach and cause people to belch, experience tightness and discomfort in the chest, appetite loss, constipation, and produce foul-smelling stools.

When this happens, we need to clear the stagnation. Use rice sprout, malt, and dried citrus peel to make tea; drinking it can help relieve indigestion and bloating. You can also massage the ‘zhong wan’ acupoint, as it can soothe the stomach and strengthen the spleen, relieve bloating and pain in the stomach.

Millet sprout tea with malt and dried citrus peel

Effects: promotes qi and aids digestion, relieves symptoms of indigestion, bloating and discomfort due to poor eating habits
Ingredients: 6g malt, 6g millet sprout, 6g dried citrus peel
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly and place into thermos. Rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 15-20 minutes. You can re-brew until its flavour weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days for two weeks.
Note: This tea is not suitable for ladies who are breastfeeding as malt can decrease breastmilk supply.

Central Venter (Zhong Wan) Point
Location: located in the abdomen, below the ribs in the midpoint between rib cage and belly button, about 6 finger widths above the belly button
Effects: alleviate symptoms of abdominal pain, poor appetite and digestive system pain
Note: Suggest to press 2 hours after meal

Ingredients: Water, Hawthorn, Rock Sugar, Oolong Tea
Effects: Aids weight loss and improves fat-burn, regulates qi to enhance blood flow. Suitable for indigestion, dull complexion, skin discoloration and chubbiness.

吃對食物減少胃氣
每逢午飯後的工作時間，辦公室好像養了很多隻青蛙一樣，同事們的噯氣聲此起彼落，吃飽噯氣看似是普通不過的事，但從中醫角度來看，有胃氣其實代表胃狀況不佳，造成胃氣的原因最常見有以下三種：一、飲食過急或本身脾胃虛弱，容易有胃脹、胃氣上逆；二、平日飲食不節，多吃寒涼食物，導致脾失健運、胃失和降而胃氣上逆；三、工作或生活壓力大，亦會容易導致胃氣脹。

想減少胃氣形成就要學會養好脾胃，一切從飲食開始：
- 飲食要定時
- 不要讓自己過於飢餓，亦不宜吃得過飽
- 少吃生冷及寒性食物，例如沙律、刺身、果汁等
- 少吃刺激性食物，例如咖啡、油膩、酒精、過酸的食物
- 配合體質，適量進食滋潤厚膩食物，例如牛奶、花膠、桃膠、雪耳等
- 少吃難消化食物，例如紅棗、鮑魚、魷魚、金菇、豆類
- 多吃米粥、米飯等正氣養脾粗糧
- 少思慮，找適當渠道紓解壓力

Eat right to reduce abdominal gas

It may seem like the office has some frogs after lunch as many people may belch. Belching when full may seem like a normal thing but from Chinese medicine perspective, it represents issues in the stomach and these are three most common causes. 1- eating too fast or asthenic weak stomach, prone to abdominal bloating and upward flow of abdominal gas. 2- poor dietary habits, frequent consumption of cold and raw food, leading to poor functioning of the spleen and loss of balance in the stomach and upward flow of abdominal gas. 3- high work or life stress can lead to abdominal gas and bloating.

To reduce formation of abdominal gas, try to adjust your dietary habits to nourish your spleen and stomach:

- have your meals regularly
- do not let yourself go too hungry and do not over eat either
- avoid cold and raw foods such as salad, sashimi and juice
- avoid stimulating foods such as coffee, oily things, alcohol, overly acidic food
- based on body type, appropriately consume nourishing and fatty food such as milk, fish maw, peach resin, and snow fungus
- do not have too much of things that are hard to digest such as red dates, abalone, squid, enoki, bean products
- have more rice congee and rice type of coarse grains to nourish the spleen
- do not over think and worry, find appropriate channels to relieve stress
