Resumed our weekly park visit over the weekend and this time, we headed to Fort Canning Park... an unlikely choice among parents with kids. Because despite being an iconic hilltop landmark of historical significance - the decision to surrender to the Japanese on 15 February 1942 was made here - I think most people deem it as pretty boring and suited only for the kids' learning journeys. 😅 . Well, it turned out to be quite the opposite. Not only is the park is cooling to stroll through as it's well-sheltered with trees for most parts, the park features nine historical gardens - the Pancur Larangan, Artisan’s Garden, Sang Nila Utama Garden, Jubilee Park, Raffles Garden, First Botanic Garden, Farquhar Garden, Spice Garden and Armenian Street Park. The Artisan's Garden should be the most interesting of the lot for kids as it is one of the last archaeological dig sites that has been retained in Singapore. BUT what's most fun for the kids will be the Jubilee Park playground (2nd pic). Situated opposite Liang Court, it is designed as a family-friendly node with lots of play structures for kids. From challenging their balancing skills at the log obstacle course to bouncy nets, swings & giant see-saws, they can end it all off by scooting down 3 super long slides!
