第三位主教嘅人選仲未公布

原天主教香港教區主教楊鳴章前年1月逝世後，職位一直懸空，治理香港教區職責暫由宗座署理（Apostolic Administrator）湯漢樞機負責。The Pillar引述消息報道，教廷在計劃委任被視為接近自由派的輔理主教夏志誠，以及立場親北京的香港教區副主教蔡惠民接任均不果後，暫時擱置任命計劃。中國大陸、香港和羅馬教廷的高級神職人員均向該媒體承認，在不久將來任命新主教的可能性很小。

報道指，新主教候選人已初步確定，他在中西方都有教會經驗。一位中國資深神職人員認為，除非防疫措施放寬以及新一屆立法會選舉結束，否則不會公布消息。

楊鳴章逝世後，盛傳夏志誠為教區內呼聲最高的接任人選，但他往日多次出席六四燭光晚會、曾聲援「佔中三子」，故此不獲北京「祝福」。至於蔡惠民，有本地神職人員曾形容他是「親北京的鷹派」，教區內部對他是否適合主教職位有爭議。報道亦引述神職人員指，蔡惠民的舉止儼如已是主教，將自己人安插在教區不同位置。

梵蒂岡和香港教區消息人士均同意，湯漢現年已81歲，不可能無限期署任，有分析指如果主教人選仍未決定，北京可能會擔心陳日君樞機會再次領導教區，遂推動蔡惠民成為新主教。梵蒂岡官員強調即使是緊急情況，陳日君「回歸」的可能性都非常低，但承認蔡惠民可能會是新主教。
