Me... the entire season 8 of #GoT 😑 #underwhelmed I’m not one to set expectations (lower expectations = less disappointments right) and avoided theories and predictions in order to properly enjoy what I thought was my fav TV show of all time... only to be severely underwhelmed. . As someone who loves writing and telling stories and aspires to be a show runner someday, these are some details I would’ve changed that I think can make the show more exciting AND make more sense based on what I know and studied of each character’s story and arc: #spoilers . 1. How exactly did Arya Stark get to the Night King without having to face his army of white walkers and wights? We know she’s stealth and all but she’s not a teleporter as we witnessed in the library scene of her avoiding the wights like a normal person with Hobbit stealth abilities at most. SO, I would’ve wanted to see her ride Ghost or Nymeria (would’ve been nice to have a reunion perhaps?) and lunged herself toward the Night King as Ghost/Nymeria sacrifices themselves to pave the way clear for Arya to finish the deed (and dead) 2. When Tyrion released Jaime, Arya being the kickass assassin she is, should’ve intercepted Jaime, killed that incest mofo whose character arc is disappointing AF (worked so dang hard to be a decent person only to go back to being the sister f***** that he is), wore his face and go on to kill Cersei Lannister. Arya can cross her name off her list and be like *surprise brother f*****!!!* and *sword drop* as she peels Jaime’s face off after Cersei dies and Cersei would’ve been so tormented before she died thinking her brother killed her— also to fulfill prophecy. Two birds with one friggin’ stone . 3) I’m not hating that Jon had to kill his aunty/lover because sometimes “Duty is the death of Love” and he’s meant to be Ned Stark 2.0 but with a slightly less dead ending, but if I were the show runner, I’d stretch out the season to the standard full 10 episodes and established the love between Jon & Daenerys better as well as gave more time and context for viewers to empathize/understand when Khaleesi decided she’d rather “rule over ashes” Had more notes but caption space ran ou

“The Long Night” #GOTS8E3 #GOTScreening This episode took 55 days straight to shoot and all the scenes were done during the night time so by the end of the shoot everyone was lethargic and dispirited. Even in the fighting scenes towards the end of ‘Battle of Winterfell’ the actors were truly drained and actors like John Bradley who played Samwell Tarly collapsed in exhaustion and broke into tears. Commitment on another level which is clearly translated well onto the big screen which we GOT enthusiasts certainly appreciate. There were many critics of this episode even by GOT fans some saying it was too dark, some saying the end was anti-climatic and some saying the battle scenes were not realistically strategically carried out. I personally loved every second of it. From the beginning, the darkness gave a sense of mystery and eeriness which logically would be associated with a living dead army ie the wights. I loved how the screenplay played around with the fire and ice elements and the battle scenes were interwoven with scenes within the castle itself. Having watched a few battle scene serials such as Vikings and Tudors, it’s true that it didint depict real life history battle strategies but then again the question is; When in history has men actually had a battle with zombies? Yup. Never. Plus to be frank it’s the drama and plot twists that GOT fans crave each week and that’s exactly what they got in a big huge serving in ‘The Long Night’. Each actor played their part so well and tributes were quickly made to those that valiantly fought till the end and ultimately lost their lives for although these characters are all fictional but they could have easily lived during the Arthurian era. Watching interviews and documentaries based on this world renowned fantasy fiction author, it’s amazing how detailed he is with his characters backgrounds, history and identities as well as how intricate he is on mapping out his entire GOT world. Oh how interesting an afternoon sitting down over hot chocolate picking at his brain would be.
