The 74th issue of Milan-based, internationally-renowned art journal Mousse
Magazine features a survey on the interrelationships of Taiwan’s land- and seascapes, history and artistic practices, while shedding light on current global human conditions. The article by​ Taipei-based Robin Peckham, Taipei Dangdai co-director, sets out from the realm of maritime history, intersecting the perspectives of the in-situ with culturally diverse lineages to bridge and extend such reflections.

"In attempting to read and understand works (like these) that engage the land-sea dialectic over and through Taiwan, I have come across two broad categories. One is discursive where the other is material; one is cultural where the other is biological. One looks south and east, following policy and retracing the routes of ancient seafarers, while the other looks down, testing out the hardness of rock and the wetness of water."

Zeydan is such an active toddler and there is no downtime with this one 🤪. With all the activities that he do and this current phase where he refuses to change his diaper (we struggle big time everyday, to the point that the diaper would hang off his bumbum!), finding the right diaper where it doesn't leak is so crucial for me.

落雨嘅時候 ，喺街度上行走就好似喺個戰場咁! 每個人都拎住把遮， 把遮就係你嘅防護盾; 亦係路人最強嘅武器 。插眼、 濕身？ 係唔係路人相遇必有一死？
其實有未必嘅，只要大家願意禮讓少少，唔怕用多你哋一兩秒 ，都可以路路暢通 ，唔濕身唔傷心。
When the rain is pouring and the umbrellas are out, the streets turn into a battlefield. Of course, with some patience and understanding, there is no need for head and eye injuries. Most importantly we can live peaceful lives with minimum wetness.

"Shiratamako (rice flour)" is one of the necessary ingredients for mochi (rice cake,) dango (dumpling,) and other Japanese sweets.
It has chewy and smooth feeling, and it tastes good.
You can easily make them at home.
You can also decorate them and make these cute Snoopy dumplings.

【Ingredients】for 4 people
100g shiratamako (rice flour)
100g water

red-yeast-rice powder
pumpkin powder
black cocoa

uguisu kinako (soybean flour with light green color)
caster sugar

【Directions】
①Put shiratamako in a bowl, add water little by little and mix well each time to make a dough (a little harder than an earlobe)
②Divide ① into 3. Leave one of them plain, add red-yeast-rice powder and pumpkin powder to each of the rest and knead and mix well.
③Shape each dumpling Snoopy, Charlie Brown or other characters
④Boil ③ in boiling water for 2~3 min, when the dumplings start floating, boil more for 1~2 min.
⑤When they're boiled, cool them well in water with ice.
⑥Drain water well and skewer them.
⑦Spread soybean flour mixed with sugar on a plate, and put the skewered dumplings on the plate.
⑧Draw their faces with black cocoa dissolved in water, and serve!
⑨Powder them with uguisu kinako and eat!

*You can also use brown sugar syrup or chocolate sauce.
*When you draw the faces, remove wetness on the surface with paper towel.

【材料】4人分
白玉粉 100g
水 100g

紅麹パウダー
かぼちゃパウダー
ブラックココアパウダー

うぐいすきな粉
上白糖

【作り方】
①ボウルに白玉粉を入れ、水を少しずつ加えながらよく混ぜて、耳たぶよりほんの少し固いくらいの
固さの生地にする。
②①を3分割して、ひとつは何も加えずそのままで、残りふたつはそれぞれ紅麹パウダーとかぼちゃパウダーを
加えてよく混ぜておく。
③3つの白玉をそれぞれ、スヌーピーやチャーリーブラウンに成形する。
④沸騰したお湯に③を入れて、茹でる。
2～3分茹でて、白玉が上に浮いてきたら、そこから更に1～2分ほど茹でる。
⑤茹で上がったら、冷水に取って、氷水でよく冷やす。
⑥水気をよく切り、串に刺す。
⑦砂糖を加えてよく混ぜたきな粉を皿に敷き、その上に串に刺した団子を乗せる。
⑧水で溶いたブラックココアパウダーで顔などを描いて出来上がり。
⑨うぐいすきな粉をつけて召し上がれ～!
*黒蜜やチョコレートソースでも美味しいです。
*顔を描くときはキッチンペーパーなどで、表面の水分を少し取ってください。
