    Betwixt Reality and Illusion – Dialogue between the Perceived World and the Physical World is a cutting-edge short film shot in 4K resolution. Crossing different eras and disciplines, it is a groundbreaking attempt to apply scientific theories to ancient Chinese art. The protagonists of this film are the jades from the Warring States period to Han dynasty in the collection of the National Palace Museum. Their splendid yet unpredictable shapes create optical illusions which deceive the human eyes. As humans are both observer and creator, the film sets out from the humanistic perspective to challenge the audience by questioning whether “seeing is truly believing,” and also applies the theories of physics, mathematics, and psychology to interpret the illusionary art of these ancient jade artifacts.

    JR東日本　篠ノ井線
    　標高551mの山の中腹に位置し、全国でも数少ないスイッチバック方式を擁する駅である。冠着山に近いが、その山頂は駅舎及びホームからは山襞や樹木に隠れて望見はできない。
    　当駅のホームから見下ろす善光寺平は、日本三大車窓の一つと数えられる。他の二つは、根室本線の狩勝峠（現在はルート変更により廃止）と、肥薩線の矢岳駅である。
    　見下ろす善光寺平は、川中島の戦いの古戦場でもある。
    1900年（明治33年）11月1日に国鉄篠ノ井線 篠ノ井駅 - 西条駅間の開通と同時に開業。旅客・貨物の取扱を開始。
    1934年（昭和9年）に駅舎改築。
    1960年（昭和35年）6月1日に貨物の取扱を廃止。
    1972年（昭和47年）3月に無人化。
    1987年（昭和62年）4月1日に国鉄分割民営化により、東日本旅客鉄道の駅となる。
    2010年（平成22年）
    7月24日に駅舎内の駅事務室のリニューアルに伴い、記念式典を開催。
    9月7日に2番線ホームの展望台利用開始。
    2011年（平成23年）7月24日に駅舎の外装および跨線橋のリニューアルに伴い、記念式典を開催。
    2012年（平成24年）8月1日に「日本夜景遺産（自然夜景遺産）」に認定。
    　相対式ホーム2面2線を有するスイッチバック方式の地上駅である。
    　駅付近の本線は、稲荷山付近から冠着トンネルまで最大25 ‰の上り勾配で、スイッチバックの引き上げ線内も奥へ向かって25 ‰の上り勾配になっていて、水平になっているのは駅の着発線付近のみである。
    　かつては駅の着発線のさらに奥に66.7 ‰の急勾配が設置されており、ブレーキが効かずにオーバーランした車両を受け止める避難線となっていた。　
    　この線路の跡地は、姨捨変電所と駅利用者のための駐車場になっている。
    　本線上にホームは設置されておらず、通過列車は当駅のホームには入線しない。
    2019年度（令和元年度）の1日平均乗車人員は53人。

    이 역의 홈에서 내려다 젠 코지 평은 일본 3 대 열차 창문 풍경의 하나이다.
    플랫폼에서 내려다 젠 코지 평은 전국 시대의 가와 나카지마 전투의 전쟁터이기도하다.
    1900 년 11 월 1 일에 개업했다.
    1934 년에 현재의 역 건물로 개축했다.
    2011 년 7 월 24 일에 역의 외관 및 구름 다리의 리뉴얼을 실시했다.
    2019 년도 1 일 평균 승차 인원은 53 명.
