G I F T Putting this here for posterity because I think it might be too late to order most (if not all) of the takeaway from @smalls_sg. Had the privilege of bossman @bjornshen delivering his larger-than-life style of food three days ago. The highlight for me from this meal was definitely the D.I.Y. Sandwich Kit which happened to feature the “Banh Mi Party” - my absolute fave from the dinner I had at Small’s with @iamjaynedoe @fionatingx @amanda_tan some months back. To enjoy it at home, I first heated up the ventaglio (pizza bread) in the oven before proceeding to layer on the contents of the kit which included tender, flavourful pork belly that’d been stewed in coconut water and fish sauce, silky slices of pistachio-studded mortadella, spam butter, sweet maggi mayo, mussel xate, a garden’s worth of fresh herbs and a lovely variety of piquant pickles. I had to practically unhinge my jaw to conquer the explosion of flavours packed together but it was worth it. Bjorn also brought us his Calzone which we nicknamed the “repressed pizza” as it was hiding its fillings (geddit?). After a short spell in the oven, the Coney Dog #Calzone was more than ready to express itself 😂 But seriously, this is the kind of hearty, tasty stuff that the Small’s team does really well. Once the folded dough was cut, out spilled plump arabiki sausages, minced beef, onions mixed with three kinds of melted cheese. I had it with the accompanying sweet mustard and onion relish and never looked back. There was a dish of rustic-style Chicken Cacciato ($36) as well and it was pure comfort food as the baked chicken came in a sauce flooded with porcini mushroom, peppers and olives. Lunch ended on a sweet bite of huge and crunchy FourChocChip cookies. Because Bjorn had launched #smallsgoods the day before, he gave us a couple of jars. ⬇️Continued in Comments⬇️

Continental Iron House$54 Japanese style bbq pork ramen $56 Arrived in a greaseproof paper-wrapped parcel that was packed with all sorts of hearty ingredients like Mac&cheese, ratatouille meatball and hash brown for the former, and everything one can find in a bowl of charsiu ramen for the latter, crammed between two hefty slices of bread that was toasted with a mixture of butter + olive oil.
