In this special Tamil video feature malaysiakini.tv looks into the controversies surrounding the demolition of Hindu temples in the country.

According to Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) an average of one Hindu temple is demolished in every three weeks.

The organisation says that since February this year, a total of 69 temples have been demolished or threatened to be demolished by the authorities. Many of these temples are more than one hundred years old.

In addition, at least six temples in Shah Alam, Selangor have been forced to relocate.

Hindraf says that the acts of such demolition are unconstitutional and causes disharmony and dissent amongst the Hindus in the country.

Hindraf has given various notes of appeals and memorandums to state leaders, political leaders and even to the prime minister.

They hope the prime minister can take an active step in halting demolition of the Hindu temples.
