【We miss Tokyo 🗼】 Many of us do. I get messages daily telling me how much they miss this magical city. There is no other place I’d rather be but Japan. And you have probably heard this a thousand times from me. It’s been almost a year since I came to live in Tokyo last March, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I love everything, and I mean everything, about the city. From the quality of life, to how it inspires me endlessly on a daily basis, how my heart throbs every time at the sight of Tokyo Tower, to how safe it feels to actually live here. I have seen how Tokyoites have all adapted to the new lifestyle, and the metropolitan government has made lots of efforts in safety measures to combat covid-19. I so look forward to the day everyone can come back safely to travel in my favorite city in the world again soon. Share with me! I’m posting this to educate ladies out there & even men because everyone either has a mother/sister etc. & everyone needs to be more cognisant. Last Tuesday, I went for a breast lump removal surgery, had cysts & fibroadenomas in my breast. I knew about this since a year back & it started with 1 small cyst & a year later, became much bigger, 2 large ones of about 4cms each + a few tiny ones. Was a simple procedure. It throbs occasionally especially when I sleep late/am under a lot of stress/eat a lot junk food like I’m feeding it 😖 Decided to remove it cause it may be benign now but ignoring it for years to come may result it into becoming something more serious & perhaps decades down the road, I’ll regret not taking the preventive measures I should have much earlier on. Been finding excuses (work/studies) cause I din want to be away for a long period of time but health should be top priority ❗️ I’ve also lost quite a number of family members & close family friends to breast cancer from both sides of the family. Although the chances of cancer is low, it might be an elevated risk factor if you have a strong family history (National Breast Cancer Foundation). Not taking the chance☝🏻 Cysts feel like lumps, filled with fluid & fibroadenomas tissue. They’re generally harmless. It’s usually benign & common for pre-menopausal/35-50 year-old women but I’m just 25 years old & the cysts were causing discomfort & pain every now & then. It’s extremely important to go for your annual check-ups despite how ‘young/healthy’ you feel / you actually are 🙃 For clinical breast exams, it’s recommended that one should go for a check-up once in 1-3 years starting at the age of 20 & once every year when you hit 40. It’s also pertinent that you don’t simply brush it off by saying “you’re okay” or “it’s nothing”. If you have doubts, go for a consult, if it’s nothing... then at least you have a piece of mind rather than thinking of all the “what if(s)” or even worse, you regret you din go for that check-up sooner. Just a simple message for everyone to keep in mind. Don’t feel like it’s something to be ashamed of when it’s beneficial... if not to all, but at least to some ✌🏻
