Because @spagosingapore, in @iamjaynedoe and my opinion, offers the whole shebang! Flawless service, lovely ambience (just check out our group shot at the end of my video) and most importantly, very delicious food - this place is the real deal. God knows why they don’t have a MICHELIN Star yet (like @dineshb said: #justiceforspago), but frankly, where I choose to spend my money at, is the biggest indicator of how much I prize a restaurant. And I return repeatedly to Spago all year round 😊 Our annual party never not begins at the #SpagoLounge with cocktails. Enormous in size and alcoholic kick, I am buzzed mere sips in. Ordinarily, cocktails aren’t my thing but I can never resist the call of the signature “Rough Love” or “Love You Long Time” ($27 each). Oh, and thanks to @nigelheng, we discovered how damn nice “Damaged Goods” is ($27). There was no need for menus in the Dining Room because as usual, we left it to Executive Chef @gregabess and his team to feed us. Best way to go, in my opinion. That’s how we ended up with these: 1. Snacks: Besides the Wolfgang Puck’s iconic Tuna Tartare Miso Cones, we had a one-bite wondrousness of beef tartare, uni and gold-dressed caviar on a curl of crunchy beef tendon puff (it’s been my favourite snack for a while). 2. Breads - All of us should be awarded a prize for self-restraint in not finishing the assortment. The warm cheese bun with its mochi-like texture though - we couldn’t resist. 3. Lobster Salad - The classic Waldorf Salad got a Japanese twist, plus chunks of yummily-dressed lobster. 4. Amela Tomato Soup - Hand on my heart, the best tomato soup I’ve ever had, and that night’s was extraordinary as it’s the peak of the season for the produce. Also worthy of worship, the whipped umami cloud of tomato butter. 5. Agnolotti - Our forever favourite! This season, the delicate pasta parcels in brown butter sauce were filled with sweet corn purée and topped with Manjimup truffles. Yes, they tasted as awesome as they sound. 6. 4-day-aged Japanese Bream - Stunned us this did. [A Chillax Evening] The setting of the space combines restaurant and bar under one roof, the atmosphere is airy and friendly, with chic and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect urban getaway! Ember offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas, the open-air space is an easy going place to hang out and unwind, while the inside is suited for a chilled catch-up or an intimate dating. The 4-courses set dinner with Soup, Appetizer, Main Course and Dessert, price ranges from $208 - $358. Tiger Prawn Homemade Tagliolini (HK$258/Dinner Set) Seafood and pasta, is there anything better? The bright orangey-red tagliolini was cooked perfectly with the rich lobster sauce, pair well with the succulent tiger prawns. Iberico Ham with Melon Parma ham with melon are a match made in heaven! The sweet, savoury are terrifically complement each other. Cognac Lobster Bisque Velvety smooth and deliciously rich. Dessert A scoop of pistachio ice cream for a perfect meal ending. Still my favourite Hakka Yong Tau Fu in Singapore. For sheer variety in stuffing, this family-owned and operated stall at North Bridge Road Food Centre is unbeatable. I mean, for eg. not only can you select a piece of bittergourd that’s been stuffed with minced meat paste, or fish paste, but also choose between a boiled or fried form! This applies to the eggplant, chillies, toufu etc. But if you must know, the biggest reason why I have been a loyal customer over the years (at one stage, I’d visit up to three times a week), is for that terrifically fragrant and tasty minced pork that they throw on your choice of carb. The beehoon is what I prefer but the mee kiah is really popular and so is plain rice. For condiments, they serve a orange-coloured, vinegary chilli (this goes so well with the fried #YTF items), a dark red savoury sambal chilli and the classic maroon sweet sauce. Just a point to note - they only open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
