6 months searching for the right place and we finally settled onto this one situated at 9 Penang Road, formerly knows as Park Mall. Located at level 2, a corner unit with full glass double frontage along the walkway to fort canning. @sourbombebakery as a young and fun company, instead of having a typical ‘IN-YOUR-FACE’ colorful interior, I wanted to keep it clean and classy (for the longevity of the brand and also for the comfort of the staffs working in it) thus, exploring a different route when designing it - by incorporating our brand colors through natural and curated materials like the pink spider marble and 15x15 blue tiles from @winckelmanstiles_official, while keeping the rest of the elements neutral. I.e Limewash paint with light grey for the retail front and light sandy pink for the back of house, segregated by the arch feature creating a contrast of tones when viewing from the retail front. Another highlight of the shop which is the ceiling design and configuration - an intentional drop from the ceiling along the walkway, hidden within are the aircon vents and strips of cove light along to accentuate the curve of the ceiling that is in synergy with the pink spider marble display counter design. Hints of blue through the door frames and menu board. Getting this space up from scratch has been so much fun! Can’t wait to work on the next project soon!
