    Prosciutto Pizza ($118)

    Like most great Italian dishes, this pizza is all about quality ingredients. Less is more. The pizza had a spectacular umami flavor, topped with bright green arugula. The pizza itself was crispy in texture, rich and spectacularly good! Must try!

    In this episode, we headed down to Carnivore to rampage through a Brazilian AYCE Steakhouse Buffet! Carnivore, located at Chijmes, is a Churrascaria, which is a buffet restaurant that specialises in Churrasco (Spanish/Portuguese-style Grilled Meat). Only offering dinner service, prices range from $59++ to $69++ depending on the day for an all-you-can-eat Brazilian buffet.

    Due to the Covid-19, their usual salad bar, where you could pick 15 different hot and cold sides, is now an ala minute service. Sides range from the iconic Brazilian dish, Feijoada, which is a black bean stew cooked with chunks of beef and pork, to salads.

    Their meats are still served similar to the standard rodizio style, where meat waiters roam around with skewers of delectable meat, offering portions to tables. However, the carving is done at an isolated table and a designated staff member brings it to your table upon request. Choices range from beef, chicken, lamb, fish and pork, including beef hump, beef short ribs, beef brisket, chicken hearts, butterfish and lamb leg.

    Realising that having them serve me their usual way would be too slow, I brought my giant plate along and had them plate a sumptuous meat feast. I got every single one of their grilled meats, rounding it off with their feijoada set. The feijoada set actually stood on its own very well versus the grilled food. The combination of the stew, garlic rice, sautéed kale and toasted cassava flour (farofa) brought many contrasting flavours and textures together in wonderfully pleasant fashion.

    The standout meats would be the beef brisket, beef short rib and beef rump. Each were spectacularly tender and rich with a deep meaty flavour. Carnivore also offers a selection of sauces to go along with your meat, with the ideal one being chimichurri, a vinegar-heavy sauce that helps to cut through the fattiness of the meats.

    For this episode, we headed back to No Signboard Seafood, this time at the Esplanade, to demolish a $1000 Seafood Mee Goreng Challenge! As a belated birthday treat, Sean has again offered to pay for my meal at No Signboard Seafood, this time only allowing Mee Goreng. Naturally, we loaded up the Mee Goreng with the most delectable toppings that No Signboard Seafood has to offer to push the cost to over $1000, making it possibly the most expensive plate of Mee Goreng ever!

    No Signboard Seafood specialises in Chinese cuisine, with a focus on seafood, especially the world-famous Chilli Crab. This particular outlet at Esplanade is unique in that it has some Western cuisine available like Boston Lobster Scrambled Eggs with Caviar and pasta dishes. We had to go with Mee Goreng, which is a Malay-style fried noodle dish with a flexible bunch of proteins and vegetables added, tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce.

    For my challenge, I ordered 10 servings of Mee Goreng, 3 Whole Boston Lobsters, a bunch of Scallops, 2 Wagyu Steaks and a large ball of Caviar. The staff masterfully plated this feast onto my giant plate, forming a beautiful array. The mee goreng was sweeter and less spicy than most mee gorengs you would find in Singapore, loaded with tofu and shrimp. It was delicious enough to eat on its own and had a deep wok hei aroma to it. The lobsters were plump and juicy, with the tail meat coming off the shell with almost no resistance. They were expectedly sweet and tender, being freshly cooked from the live lobster tanks on-site.

    The scallops were stir-fried in XO sauce, pairing the naturally sweet scallops with the strong umami flavour of the sauce, while the steaks were cooked to medium-rare perfection and rich with a deep “beefy” flavour. Finally, the caviar was a surprising addition to mee goreng, usually eaten on its own or on toast with its rich salty flavour. However, it went exceedingly well with the mee goreng as each sweet and savoury bite of the mee goreng was met with pops of salty explosions, complementing one another rather spectacularly.

    This meal was so good that I could hardly call it a challenge and I thankfully enjoyed my birthday dinner.     またまたダイソーで買った『デコレーションスタンプ』(100円商品)にチョコレートを入れて使ってみました。本来はケチャップやマヨネーズを入れてデコ弁に使う商品なのですが、こんなに かわいくスタンプできるなら他のものにも使えるかも!と思って試してみました。
    小さな小さなクマの形のチョコレートは時にはミッキーマウスになったり時にはブタさんになったりしますが、大体はうまくいくので小さなギフトにしてみてはいかがでしょうか?
    これまたダイソーで買った簡単密封『シーラー』(100円商品)を使ったラッピングもしました。
    ダイソーまじヤバい。
    (黒いチョコレートでやったスタンプは練習の時の映像です。見事にテンパリングに失敗してしまいました。)

    *レシピ*
    1.お好みのチョコレートを溶かし『ダイソーのデコレーションスタンプ』に入れる。
    2.オーブンシートの上にスタンプしていく。チョコが絞り出されるのを横から確認しながらスタンプし、その後まっすぐに上げるのがコツです。
    今回使ったピンクのチョコレートは滑らかさが少なく、固まりやすかったので絞り出しづらかったです。
    ホワイトチョコレート 25gで35個程度
    ピンクのチョコレート 25gで25個程度 できました。
    3.シュガースプリンクなどでデコる。
    4.冷蔵庫で冷やし固める。
    5.5センチ幅の透明袋(近所のホームセンター)
      簡単密封『シーラー』(ダイソー)
      刺繍糸(100円ショップで買えます)
      針
      を使い一袋にチョコ10〜12個程度を入れてラッピングする。
    6.でけた。

    とってもかわいくできるけど、使った後『デコレーションスタンプ』を洗うのが大変でした。

    Again, we used the "Decoration Stamp" (¥100 product) which we bought at DAISO by putting chocolate. This product was originally made to decorate a lunch box with ketchup or mayonnaise. We thought it could be used for something else if it can make such a cute stamp like this!

    Very small bear shaped chocolate sometimes becomes Mickey Mouse or a pig, but how about making a small gift with this because it works most of the time? We also did the wrapping using the easy sealing "Sealer" (¥100 product) from DAISO. DAISO is seriously dangerous!

    (The stamp with black chocolate is a picture of practice. We failed spectacularly at tempering.)

    *Recipe*
    1.Melt chocolate you like and pour it into "DAISO's Decoration Stamp."
    2.Stamp on parchment paper (oven sheet). The tip is to stamp chocolate being squeezed out, making sure from the side, then bring a stamp straight up.
    The pink chocolate used this time has a lack of smoothness, and it was difficult to squeeze out because it easily hardens.
    Made appx. 35 pieces with white chocolate
    and appx. 25 pieces with pink chocolate.
    3.Decorate with sugar sprinkles, etc.
    4.Let your chocolate cool and harden in refrigerator.
    5.5cm wide clear bag (home improvement center in my neighborhood).
      The easy sealing "Sealer" (DAISO)
      Embroidery thread (Can be purchased at ¥100 store)
      Using a needle, put 10~12 pieces of chocolate in a bag and wrap.
    6.Finished.

    It makes very cute chocolates, but it was hard to wash the "Decoration Stamp" afterwards.
