《微軟模擬飛行》使用了高達3PB的雲端資料，並採樣了微軟自己的Bing地圖，機場與許多建築物都是手工修訂，因此不論飛到哪都有美景可以看，而且幾乎每一棟建築物都清晰可見；只要是實際去過的地方，在飛行的過程中經過，映入眼簾的道路跟建築，都會感受到一股熟悉感。
這款除了保有了前代的「擬真性」，我認為「遊戲性」也更高一些，除了全球自由飛行以外，也可以挑戰不同環境的降落挑戰，透過解鎖成就也能體驗到另一種飛行樂趣。

在飛行時，也有簡易版的檢查表＆啟動教學，遊戲會把你需要操作的按鈕高亮，從停機坪開始一步一步引導你，可以完成冷艙啟動之類的程序，成就感很高！
(想當初我在飛747-8的時候冷艙啟動程序都要自己做功課，想不到現在居然這麼方便了，淚)
