God’s Answer is Always “Yes and Amen” to you

“When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?” But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.” For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:17-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Gospel is not about how God works in mysterious ways—that He afflicts with sickness and heals at times, makes rich and strikes poor at times, kills and resurrects at times.

No, for a believer, we know that God’s promises are always “Yes” and “Amen” for us. God has given His answer, and now its up to us to simply believe and agree with Him.

The Gospel is that God is always good to you because He poured out all the bad that you deserved, upon Jesus at the cross.

God is always good to you, and bad things that happen to you are not caused by Him. He is on your side, working to deliver you as you say “Yes” and “Amen” to His promises.

As long as you believe that God is sometimes saying yes and sometimes no, that He may make you sick, poor and even kill you if you sin, then you are still in unbelief. You are fearful of His punishment and not restful in His love.

No, God is not a fickle-minded man who is trying to decide if He really loves you or not. He has committed to you, to the point of bleeding and dying the most gruesome death, and giving you His Spirit as a downpayment of your salvation.

Remember that the promises of God are “Yes” and “Amen” in Him (Jesus Christ). It’s not by your efforts or obedience through the Law, but it’s solely based on what Jesus has done for you at the cross.

So if you have just sinned and failed God, thankfully it is not by your own obedience that you are righteous and blessed. It is all based on Jesus’ perfect obedience at the cross, so you can still confidently declare “Yes” and “Amen” to God’s promises to prosper you in all things and keep you healthy, even as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2).

This way, God always gets the glory. Your flesh is weak, but God will show Himself strong in your life!

If there are any areas of weaknesses, let His love transform you from the inside out. It will happen through a transformational journey of faith and not rehabilitation by punishment of the flesh.
