Obedience, devotion and submission. Prophet Ibrahim was commanded to sacrifice not his time, not his jewellery sets, not his house or his clothes, but his own son. If we were ever put in this situation of command, would we be able to do so? This is why the Qurban we do today exists. Not just for us to do, but for us to also reflect upon ourselves. For us to always remember how far we are willing to sacrifice our worldly desires for Allah. May Allah grant us a heart that is attached to Him, a body that is obedient and a soul that is devoted only to Allah. On one occasion, the Prophet ﷺ silently smiled when Abu Bakr (ra), his most noble Companion, refrained from responding to a person who was insulting him. But when Abu Bakr (ra) eventually spoke up, the Prophet ﷺ became angry and left. He ﷺ later explained, “An angel was with you, responding on your behalf.
