I realised I x shared about my obsession with Burro’s Tail (Sedum Morganianum Burrito) aka the Burrito plant. The other Sedum Morganianum is the Donkey’s tail which has a sharper/edgy tail end. Mine is confirmed to be Burrito bcoz of its rounded end (updated after reading online) 🌯 Why such a cute name? Bcoz the leaves are shaped like a burritoz Look at how cute & mesmerising each burrito” is. Makes u just want to pluck it out one by one 🤏 It’s my dream to have long, burritos flowing down my balcony but that can be challenging 😱 You see, the “balls” falls off quite easily. When u water, move or accidentally bumped it (arghh) 🤯. So to understand them, I tested 4 pots in various conditions to find out how to grow a strong burrito💪 1️⃣ was placed indoor and it dropped balls like crazy (now it’s bald!). After moving it outdoor under the afternoon sun, it became better, stronger, and grew that long in 10 months time. It still drop balls just not as easily as b4. It’s the longest but ugliest here (baldy 3rd pic). 2️⃣ hangs on the balcony under direct sun, gets water every 2 weeks or so. This one has been quite successful, balls do not drop easily, it grew big & is the strongest amongst the 4. 3️⃣ is placed under shaded sun (1st pic) gets water every 2 weeks or so. The part where it gets hit direct sun, grew long & big. It also does not drop balls easily. 4️⃣ sits at the edge of my balcony ledge (4th pic), receives full evening sun; gets watered every 3-4 weeks. This one is slow growing, doesn’t drop balls but parts where the sun hits, it grows 👍 I’ve come to a conclusion that they love and can take full sun 4-6 hours. This makes them strong & healthy ☀️ Donkeys/Burriots (both the same just different leave type) are succulents & can take the drought (long dry periods). The “balls” keep water, so when it shrinks you know the “tank” needs a good watering soon 💦 P.S: I didn’t change the soil, I’m afraid of doing so bcoz they’re such fragile plants! I will continue to experiment 👩🏻‍🔬
