2019, to all Hongkongers or me, is a year that everything starts all over again. Like the big bang, the entire world was exploited and buried in ash and dust. It was chaotic and dimmed before the new order was restored. We finally put an end on all these superficial prosperity and hypocrisy. While people with different stances put on masks and are ready to fight, they at the same time pull off the mask of this city -- nothing has had happened as horse races go on and nightclubs stay open. .
.
Like being under a microscope, every seamy and bright side of humanity is amplified to the max including craftiness, scheming, fatuousness, and selfishness, or kindness, love, dedication, and scarification. In a world full of chaos, no one could stay aloof or immune from it. We all need to review our own value and direction through the interaction with the world. .
.
In this exhibition, I have tried to observe and record every bit of it and turned different faces that I had come across into different monsters. The monster does not necessarily represent any specific individual. It could be either an embodiment of a group or a portrait of my mind. .
.
This exhibition could be a 2.0 version of the last exhibition “Silent Family”. It starts from the conversation with myself, and then expanses to the outer world, and ultimately gets back to my own reflection. .
.
Humanity is too complicated and diverse. I could only capture very little of it and hope that would be more to come in the future. .
