英語で日常会話をする際、ネイティブの間では頻繁に使われる表現はたくさん存在しますが、今回はその中の一つである「Drop off」についてご紹介しようと思います。日常生活において、使えるシーンはよくあるので是非覚えておきましょう！

Drop off
→ 「置いていく / 持っていく / （乗物から）降ろす / 車で送る」
--------------------------------------------------　
　
「Drop off」は状況により色々な意味として使える便利な表現ですが、ある物をどこかへ持って行ったり、置いて行ったりすること、または乗り物から（人が）降りたり、（人を）下ろす意味として使うのが一般的でしょう。その他、人をある場所まで車で送る意味として使うこともよくあります。「〜を置いていく」は「Drop off ___ / Drop ___ off」と表現し、「〇〇を〜で降ろす」や「〜まで〇〇を送る」は「Drop someone off at ___」と表現します。
　
✔「〇〇を〜へ持って行く」と言う場合は「Take something to _____」でもOK。
　
＜例文＞
　　
Can you drop off the catalogs at Richard's restaurant?
（リチャードさんのレストランにこのカタログを置いてきてくれますか？）
　
I'll drop it off on my way home.
（家に帰る途中にそれを持っていきますね。）
　
Can you drop me off at the airport?
（空港まで送ってもらえますか？）
　
Every time I go on business trips, I always take my iPad with me.
（出張に行くときは、いつもiPadを持って行きます。）

A: Do you think you can swing by Jim's office and drop off these documents?
（ジムさんのオフィスに立ち寄って、この書類を渡してきてくれますか？）

B: Yeah no problem. I'll dropped it off during my lunch break.
（いいですよ。昼休みの間に持って行きます。）
　
〜会話例２〜

A: I took the copy machine to a repair shop and they said it'll take a couple days to fix it.
（コピー機を修理屋へ持って行ったのですが、修理に数日間かかるそうです。）

『Layers of Fear』シリーズや『Observer』などの作品で、現代のホラーゲームファンにとってはすっかりおなじみの存在となったインディーデベロッパーBloober Teamの最新作、「サイレントヒル」を手がけた山岡晃氏が音楽に参加した事でも話題になっています。

「The Medium」は，霊媒師である主人公「マリアン」が，突然見え始めた少女の殺人現場の記憶を巡り，謎の人物によって廃墟となったホテルに呼び出されるところからストーリーが描かれている。このゲームの最大の特徴は，廃墟の建物を散策する“現実世界”と，マリアンには見える“霊界”が，分割画面でレンダリングされるゲームシステム「二重現実」になります。

なお、「The Medium」は2021年1月29日 MicrosoftWindowsおよびXboxSeries X / S向けにリリースされました。
