生ごみが腐った臭いや魚の血生臭いにおいなど、鼻につくような嫌な臭いを表す時にピッタリの英表現があるのでご紹介します。

Reek of
→「悪臭を放つ / ～の臭いがする」
--------------------------------------------------
この表現は、何か不快な臭いがする時に「悪臭がする」の意味としてよく使われるフレーズです。日本語の「お酒臭い」や「タバコ臭い」に相当する表現です。
✔「Smell (like) _____（〜の匂いがする）」も同様の表現ですが、中立的な表現であり良い匂いと嫌な臭いの両方に使えます。
＜例文＞
You reek of alcohol.
（あなた、お酒臭いね。）
My dress reeks of smoke.
（私のドレスがタバコ臭いのよね。）
This store reeks of perfume. It's giving me a headache.
（このお店、香水臭い。頭痛がするわ。）
It smells like food in here. Is someone cooking?
（何か食べ物の匂いがする。誰か料理しているの？）
