If you are a born-again believer, your name can never be blotted out from the Book of Life. You must understand that this book was completed since the foundation of the world. Also, in this article, we examine what predestination means. One thing is for sure: God never designed anyone to be condemned to Hell. We all have free will, and people make that choice themselves.

《蝴蝶效應》（Butterfly Effect, 2004）是由艾瑞克·布萊茲導演，由曾經主演《賈伯斯》（Jobs, 2013）的艾希頓·庫奇主演，穿梭在過去、記憶、與日記，去改變幼時的關鍵時刻，也改變一群四個小朋友的命運。

在2004，這種穿梭時空改變命運的電影尚不多見，於是《蝴蝶效應》在當年喧騰一時，不只賣座也票房驚人，後來還在2006與2009追加第二集與第三集，不過效果不佳，也只有以DVD發行。

記得在2004年的時候，我是在電影院觀看這部電影，當時緊張不已，幾乎是緊抓著椅子手把焦慮不已。不過今天看來，故事已經不再刺激，因為這十七年來，我們早已看過更多刺激精彩又燒腦的科幻驚悚電影了。

＃時間迴圈電影
現在是2021，如果要我選擇同樣是「時間迴圈（time loop）」為主題的電影，《蝴蝶效應》應該很難列入，因為在21世紀，有太多好看的「時間迴圈」故事。今天介紹五部至今讓我難忘也極為喜愛的時間迴圈科幻（照時間排列）。

有趣的是，下面這五部時間迴圈電影，雖然都是燒腦的科幻，也多驚悚恐怖，但是，故事的核心卻是愛情，都是為了拯救自己最愛的人，強迫自己進入時間迴圈，在找尋解救愛人的方法時，也同時找尋出關於自我的答案。

＃倒帶人生2009
《倒帶人生》（Mr. Nobody, 2009）稱不上是正統的時間迴圈電影。故事是以倒敘法的方式，從一個已經達到永生的未來，一個再也沒有死亡的世界，回顧地球曾經有死亡的世界，當時的「人生意義」是什麼。

故事中以「強制被動的棋局（zugzwang）」為主軸，讓主角搖擺在「放手讓情勢決定命運」與「放手一搏殺出活路」之間。當然，故事最後想告訴我們的是，與其讓命運決定未來，不如運用自由意志，殺出一條自己的道路，因為人生最好的作者，就是自己。

倘若人生是場棋局，就要選擇自己最愛的路，與最愛的人，然後盡情認真地玩樂這場遊戲。時間迴圈的故事，多半燒腦，由丹麥的 Jaco Van Dormael 所編劇與導演的《倒帶人生》，燒腦度大概四星半（五星為滿分）。

＃啟動原始碼2011
《啟動原始碼》（Source Code）是由 Duncan Jones 導演，以及 Jake Gyllenhaal 主演。這是導演繼 Moon 《2009月球漫遊》之後的第二部科幻電影，闡述某種可能超越時空的方式。而 Gyllenhaal 主演的角色 Colter Stevens，即是電影敘事裡所謂的「原始碼」（source code），或說是原始碼的轉譯者。

開發原始碼這項新科技的科學家是 Dr. Rutledge，他假設一個處在彌留狀態的意識，可以進入其他死者的體內取代死者的意識，看見死者在死前八分鐘的世界，並且經歷死者當時的處境。所謂的原始碼，即是彌留者在進入死者意識八分鐘裡所能獲取的一切資料。

這是個關於生命選擇的電影，有沒有可能可以同時讓「永恆」與「經驗」並行呢？有種可能性，就是當時間不再是線性的時候，不再像火車一樣，一節接著一節，過去接著現在，現在接著未來地，不斷直線前進，就有可能讓永恆與經驗同時並存。

＃明日邊界2014
《明日邊界》（Edge of Tomorrow）改編自日本小說 All You Need Is Kill （櫻板洋 著），是個科幻電影，描述凱吉（Cage）生死輪迴（Live, Die, Repeat）百來次，決意殺掉難以捉摸之敵人的故事。

凱吉真正的敵人，其實，都是「自己」。雖然凱吉看似在對抗的是外在的敵人，實際上卻是他自己內在的膽怯與恐懼。

如果說《明日邊界》可以被當成是一個勵志故事，最為勵志的部份，應該不只在於「有志者事竟成」的部分，而是在面對自己的恐懼，以及面對自己人性弱點時的態度。《明日邊界》的燒腦度：四顆星。

＃超時空攔截2014
《超時空攔截》（Predestination）是由澳大利亞導演 Michael and Peter Spierig 改編自 Robert A. Heinlein 的短篇小說 All You Zombies (1959)。

這部電影的主要演員有三人，Sarah Snook 飾演 Jane/John，Ethan Hawke 飾演酒保/旅行騎兵，還有 Noah Taylor 飾演 Mr. Roberson。

《超時空攔截》使用的時空旅行模式，是科幻小說裡常見的命定悖論。整部電影，可以說就是，以故事來呈現命定悖論的公式：蛇無止盡地吃掉自己的尾巴。

悔恨是推進無窮命定的成因，有沒有任何的轉機，可以改變命運的無窮循環？Fizzle Bomber告訴酒保，有機會，「愛」。《超時空攔截》的燒腦度：五顆星。

＃只有我不存在的城市2016
《只有我不存在的城市》由日本漫畫家三部敬所創作的動漫，故事中，主角藤沼悟回到過去的1988年，在當時的日本東京與埼玉，曾經發生多起凶殘的連續女童誘拐殺人案，《只有我不存在的城市》的故事內容也與當時的真實事件有諸多細節重疊，讓人不得不佩服三部敬的偉大精神，他雖未聲明自己的作品與社會案件的直接關聯，卻默默地以正義、慈悲與善良重建歷史，也為漫畫中的受害女孩保留溫暖與佑護。

在現實案件中受害的女孩們，都遭受到極為殘忍的肉體磨難。雖然現實已經無法改變，但是在想像的空間，悲劇可以改寫、歷史可以重建、記憶可以重繪。於是，在《只有我不存在的城市》，三部敬透過主角藤沼悟不斷地回溯與倒帶，親身回到過去，以行動改變歷史，扭轉悲劇，讓那些可能會在事件中受到苦難的女孩子們得到保護，同時也把即將降落在她們身上的磨難轉移，交由主角藤沼悟的肉體承擔。

這是東方佛教的業力概念，假若悲劇終究會發生，人間的業障無法逃避，唯一能改變的，就是將這些災難轉嫁他人，肉體的劫難對小女生來說實在太殘酷，三部敬於是轉嫁這些悲傷，交給承擔得起的心智與身體——年輕漫畫家藤沼悟。《只有我不存在的城市》燒腦度，兩顆半。

＃StopCryingYourHeartOut
《蝴蝶效應》的片尾曲是綠洲合唱團的 Stop Crying Your Heart Out。這是我最喜歡的樂團之一，回味這歌詞中的美麗境界：

'Cause all of the stars are fading away
Just try not to worry, you'll see them someday
Take what you need, and be on your way
And stop crying your heart out

Free will is not a scam.

God already knew all the actions we would choose to take, and He planned His own actions to lead us all to the best possible outcome—probably the highest number of people being saved. That is what predestination is.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love; having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:3-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Predestination is not about how some people are made for Heaven and others are made to go to Hell.

God loves all of us. He made each and every one of us like an intricate embroidered work while we were in our mothers’ wombs. He designed us to be beautiful and unique.

“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Psalms‬ ‭139:13-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Unfortunately due to the fall, the flesh is tainted by sin from conception and that is why people are born with deformities and flaws. God made you perfectly, but sin in the blood distorts what He designed.

An illustration to help you understand: you can be a great artist who draws beautiful pieces of digital art, but if your only printer is faulty, the art will still come out blotchy and ugly, with patches of ink splattered everywhere. Adam damaged the printer when he sinned against God.

“The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

It is clear in the New Testament that God’s will is for all to be saved through faith in Jesus Christ, but when you give “free will” to a creature, you must let it choose, even if it chooses the self-destructive path.

Even though He knew that not everyone would accept Jesus as Lord, Jesus still bore everyone’s sins at the cross, and was punished for them, so that the cross is truly an open invitation for salvation to all. No one has been excluded—anyone can receive salvation if they choose to place their faith in Jesus.

God can give unbelievers many opportunities to know the Gospel and experience His goodness, but He cannot force them to make Jesus their Lord and Savior.

For us believers, God leads us by His Spirit every day. He prompts us to do the right thing and teaches us about Himself through His Word. We still have free will, and we can choose whether to follow the Spirit, or to be driven by our flesh.

Following God’s leading will always bring you to the best possible outcome for your life. He has your eternity in mind, to confer you the best eternal rewards, so that your joy will be made full. We have a good Abba God, so obey His promptings and believe that He wants you to receive the very best!
