She is a 10-year-old girl, and she has a free and creative spirit. After her poor father passed away, she was forced to go live together with her wealthy aunts at New Moon. At first, she had a hard time. Aunt Elizabeth is a very strict and traditional woman. She couldn’t tolerate many Emily’s mischief behaviors, and she doesn’t understand why Emily loves to write. However, even though aunt Elizabeth is hard to get along with, aunt Laura is quite nice. She tries her best to support Emily, even though sometimes Emily is acting naughty. At the end of the book, Emily turns 13. She has become a more mature person throughout the years, and her literature talent shines. I love this book because I like Emily this character a lot. She seems to always find the small but beautiful things in life. Emily is also a really kind-hearted person. Although she sometimes writes or talks sarcastically, she constantly reflects on her actions afterward. She is also a talented poetess. Her sentences are beautiful, and one could certainly feel her passion for writing. I would say this book is a page-turner. Even though this book was written almost a hundred years ago, I still feel relatable to many scenes in the book.
