美國Baltimore當地最大廣告公司Planit的創辦人，上週出了一篇很有意思的短文，蠻有意思，他們最近在市中心開了一間咖啡廳，名字取得好，叫做「Order & Chaos Coffee」，簡稱是「O&X」，叉叉和圈圈，內部裝璜也是現代工業風，兩層樓的大片窗，果然是廣告公司，氣氛營造一流。

重要的是，這位老闆分享，廣告公司開了一間咖啡廳，到底有什麼好處？他說，一開始他只是想用「咖啡」這概念來溝通他們廣告公司的「價值觀」（果然是廣告公司的作風），所謂價值不外乎就是讓內部的創意人員多多互動、和鄉鄰多多互動、和終端使用者多多互動，還有回饋社會等等。這老闆也很「廣告人FU」的設定這間咖啡廳「絕不是賣咖啡」，而是………賣溫度、賣感動……之類的。

但，這些紙上作業、嘴上工夫，等到他真正的「開出」了這間咖啡廳，從開門的第一天起，立刻感受到震撼。

做廣告，遠在天邊，面對的都是企業客戶（clients），很少有機會與真正的終端消費者（Customers），這是第一個新挑戰，然後，令他驚訝的是，想要好好的為終端消費者服務，他要學習的，還包括和咖啡廳請來的「時薪工作人員」（泡咖啡的）好好的管理，因為，他終於發現，這些時薪人員，才是終端消費者眼睛真的「看到的」；消費者看到的，絕不會是那些遠在天邊的「廣告」或裝潢的氣氛或整經咖啡廳到底要賣溫度還是賣感動。然後，最大的震撼，還是來自於「做一個新品牌」────沒錯，廣告公司以前接那些想創新品牌的企業客戶，常常「胸有成竹」的說，創一個新品牌，沒問題，我們是行銷專家，好像很厲害，但，到了自己要創了，真正開一間咖啡廳，注意，和那些大企業客戶相比，開一間咖啡聽，不過就是一個這麼簡單且local的小品牌，才驚訝的發現，從零開始，搞一個品牌，實在太多太多以前不知道的細節了。

不過，他也說，開一間咖啡廳，可讓他第一線嘗試「不一樣的行銷手法」，是以前從來沒有機會實際做的──然後，這些行銷手法，他說，最大受益者，就是他們長期的客戶「Sheetz」，這是一間美國東岸為主的快餐與超商連鎖，和咖啡廳的「原理」類似。

這件事讓我頗有感觸，以前我自己經營行銷廣告公司近10年（現在沒做了），看到企業客戶對行銷廣告公司「非常尊重」，而行銷廣告公司也真的因為「見多看多」了「客戶」而非常的「專業」，而所謂的專業，其實只是，看多了很多的「故事」──問題是，縱然有很多很多的「故事」可以講，以前做過什麼、成功過什麼、失敗過什麼，但這些故事全都是「表象」，而且一間公司真正的成功絕不只行銷而已，因此，除非行銷廣告公司可以像這間Planit一樣真正的開一間咖啡廳，才能真正了解如何對一間這樣的咖啡廳、快餐店、通路來做行銷。可怕的是，行銷廣告公司不可能每一種產業都「自己去開一家」，因此，我們可以大膽斷定，這些廣告公司大概一輩子都只能「說故事」，永遠都不可能，而所有的企業，當他們找上行銷廣告公司，大概也永遠只能得到很表淺的「專業」。

所以，企業不必再繼續換廣告公司了，再怎麼換，應該都是差不多一樣，不如多找一些你那個行業的經驗者多來談一談，寧可請來這個人，年薪頂多60萬，如果老闆預算還有，就請老闆幫自己加薪────自己的行銷，自己救！
