I realise that I don’t celebrate my husband enough. So I’m going to share his work today ❤️ Carsten is an Engineer, and he worked for quite some time in the Shipping Industry. Since building Baumhaus, however, he’s discovered a passion for designing creative spaces, and facilitating positive social interaction through them. Together with our partners in Germany, Carsten has launched @rakoondesign to bring high-quality, pedagogically-aligned indoor and outdoor playground design— mostly made of solid birch wood, and all following the EU standards for playground creation. (I’m not kidding— every design needs to adhere to strict proportions based on the EU regulations!) At the same time, these have been educationally designed to address the needs of children in various developmental stages, while promoting a culture of curiosity, independent learning, and positive risk-taking among children. So if you see our treehouse in your schools, home estates and other playrooms and children’s spaces, I’m so proud to say that Carsten and his team are behind them.
