Ever since I recovered from my eating disorders and started appreciating the performance of the body instead of its appearance, I've been constantly amazed by it. The mind is really the limit and you can continue to #OutdoYourself no matter the circumstances. For me, my Ironman journey (which has been halted abruptly due to COVID-19) allowed me to see how my body was more capable than I thought it was. Finding the time to train for Ironman races, managing the fatigue from training in your daily duties, and of course, doing the race itself were all highly challenging. Very often I found myself questioning my purpose - Why am I doing this? Why am I paying to punish myself? What do I get out of this? I would say, it's the sense of self-accomplishment. That feeling of setting goals, working hard towards them and achieving them. If I could bottle up this feeling of achievement, it would be worth a lot of money. And this process of outdoing yourself can be applied to everything in life, not just in sports. I love how sport teaches you valuable lessons in life. I've not participated in a physical race in a long time, so I've had to look for other ways to continue to outdo myself. There are many opportunities for you to push yourself further, like in the virtual races of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Virtual Club (SCSMVC). There's one coming up from 20 to 24 September, the 100PLUS Challenge which you can attempt. @100PLUS_singapore has been a significant part of my journey , besides drinking it. Finally back at @f45training_orchard after 6 full months of rehab & recovery for my wrist injury 🥳😁 and even happier that @hannahchengbradshaw and I can finally try to outdo each other with these super sets 😂 Swipe to see some of my “fav” exercises from Saturday’s Hollywood workout 🏋🏻‍♀️💪😵 It’s really not the easiest thing coming back after an injury… lots of modifications, wayyyy lighter weights than when I was last here, and that psychological fear of re-injury which is arguably the hardest part. Just gotta take it one step at a time, one physio session after another 💪 P.S. For those curious, I had a ganglion cyst and a bunch of complications came from it where it began pressing into my nerve so I couldn’t bear any weight in my wrist at all until ~1.5 months ago! 8 years. That’s a reasonably long time, and that’s how long I’ve been in the industry. There were certainly many ups and downs.
