In maturing of any culture, the accumulation of its history, the construction of its context, as well as creative phenomena born out of people’s interactions with the resulting structure are crucial factors. In this case, I wondered whether the time happened to be ripe when ComplexCon @complexcon started in 2016 and that, in turn, led to the heightened interest in my art.
For the four iterations of ComplexCon between 2016 and 2019, my role was that of an ambassador of a sort, designing the entire visual identity of the event. But recognizing this tidal current, I asked the organizers for a booth to present my Kaikai Kiki Gallery @kaikaikikigallery , where we showed the artists we represent. The booth was also received very well; we were able to offer works to so many new customers we wouldn’t have had the chance to meet at art fairs.
The artists whose popularities have been ignited thanks to the presentations at ComplexCon include MADSAKI @madsaki , TENGAone @tengaone , Emi Kuraya @emikuraya , Otani Workshop @ota539 , and Yuji Ueda @yuji____ueda ; interests in artists like Mr. @misteryanen ,ob @ob0o0 , Aya Takano @takano.aya , and Chiho Aoshima @chiho_aoshima have rebounded as well.
The new store, Tonarino Otakara Antique Hunter @tonari_no_otakara , aims to give another push to the kind of art that has been highly compatible with ComplexCon. Perhaps you could say the concept of the store is ComplexCon Effect… That’s my thinking now, anyway.
