身為英文老師的我，一直都在努力提升自己的英文能力。在這個網路時代，能隨時隨地練習英文，甚至找到母語者練習口說，真的很棒。 這次來試上 @engootaiwan 的課程，這個平台有幾個地方讓我很喜歡。首先24小時都有開課，可以選擇世界各地的母語者，或者台灣本地的老師。上面有非常多老師可以做選擇唷。選擇障礙的我，藉由篩選外籍老師、老師評價、國籍等資訊，很快就做出選擇。此外一對一的課程，我想絕對是練習口說聽力，最佳的方式。而且預約上課非常方便，可以幾天前做預約。或者臨時想上課，也可以前15分鐘做預約唷。 平台上另外一個很棒的地方，就是每天都會更新免費教材。有國際時事、經典文學、旅遊、商務，甚至是托福雅思口說等。除了在課程中與老師上課，在課後也有很棒的資源可以做練習。真是大推呀！ 這次選擇來自Mississippi的Melody老師。我們聊到了目前台灣的疫情，還有美國那邊的狀況。我覺得這樣輕鬆地聊天，順便練習口說，是最自然，也最有效學習英文的方式唷。而平台的通訊品質非常好，視訊、聲音幾乎都不會有時間差。讓整個過程很像是實際在現場做討論。 As an English teacher, I’ve always been trying to improve my English skills. Living in the internet age allows us to practice with native speakers, anytime, anywhere, which is something really amazing. This time, I tried an online English learning platform, Engoo. Some of their features are extraordinary. For example, classes are available 24/7 with a HUGE number of native speakers from all over the world or local teachers to choose from. For people as indecisive as me, it’s quite easy to use the filters to find the most suitable teacher. Having 1-1 classes is definitely one of the most efficient ways to practice listening and speaking. Plus, it’s very easy to make class reservations, which can be done few days in advance, or for those who tend to be more spontaneous, 15 mins before the class begins. Another thing that is also amazing is that a great variety of FREE English learning materials are provided and updated every day. They include news articles, literary works, contents about travel, business, daily conversations, grammar… so on and so forth. You can even find TOEFL and IELTS speaking practice materials. That’s why I strongly recommend this platform. I chose Melody from Mississippi as my teacher this time. We talked a lot about the current outbreak in Taiwan and the situation there in her state. Chatting with native speakers is the most natural way of English learning, as it allows us to get immersed in an environment where we can learn by osmosis. The video call quality is excellent as well, and there wasn’t any lag issue.
