Nagging not only make me feel like an old ah ma but it also train the kids not to listen to you the 1st time you talk to them! So lets try nag less! Hehe
Sharing with u 3 tips to stop nagging at your kids. Learnt these from @ourlittleplaynest ig live!
1) Give them wait time
2) Have their attention before giving instructions
3) Connect with them
(connect as in something like make friend with them🤣 maybe say wow this lego looks really fun isn't it. Can share with me what are you building. Then start suggesting instruction)
These tips works de!
For eg, Joreen is so engrossed in her lego play, when I remind her to go toilet, usually she will either ignore me or wait until she is really urgent then go. In the end, jumping here & there coz pee pee wanna come out already lo 🤣🤣
So i try not to nag & try the tips...
What I did...
Went over to grab Joreen shoulder & look directly into her eyes (physical & eyes contact here to grab her attention), then i said "Joreen, can you go toilet to try pee pee pls?"
Then wait for a few sec before I start saying "can you repeat what mama said?"
Joreen repeated what I said & zoom she went to toilet!
Yay no need nag!
I will continue trying 🤞

It wasn't easy to get our engines started again after the intensive, fun-filled school holidays. Seeing how the big girl has homework to do on every school day, I make it a point to bring her out on weekends so that she has ample time to rest, relax and just enjoy. Never mind that we have not done much revision this year or that the assessment books I bought are still untouched after six months, I want her to understand that academics and grades are not everything and will never be anything more than a small part of her life. I want her to know how much more important it is to be with your family, to do the things that you enjoy, to play and bond with your siblings, and to learn to be a good, kind, honest and down-to-earth individual. I want her to know that she is never alone in this world and that she will always have our troop by her side to back her up.
I might be long-winded and naggy at times because hey, I'm a mum after all and I swear sometimes the kids just don't listen. Nonetheless, no matter what happens, I hope my kids know that I will always support them in every way I can, be it cheering them for them in competitions, encouraging them to chase after their dreams or just being here when they need me. In July's "Happiness is...", it's about showing your support for your loved ones.
