Journey into the Himalayas 🏔

這個月的NTS Radio節目邀請到了來自西藏邊境的北印度拉達克 — 聲音藝術家 Ruhail Qaisar，擔任後40分鐘的客座mix。讓我驚艷的是他節錄了來自英國攝影師Tim Malyon的圖像聲音，來為此介紹拉達克當地的文化與風景，像是旅行到了喜馬拉雅 🦬。

前20分鐘由我來播放台灣實驗音樂製作人的作品，與一首來自原住民的民歌“從現在起 Paiska laupaku”。 其中也收錄了我的一首尚未發表的現場錄音。

藝術家介紹：

Ruhail Qaisar 是來自印度拉達克的自學多媒體藝術家和聲音製作人。 他專注於聲音藝術和實驗電影製作。 自 2016 年以來，他一直以他以前的演出名稱“Sister”在印度各地演出。

作為一名聲音藝術家，他透過結合白話詩和即興創作來探索記憶的局限、代際關係和潛意識的運作。

他的作品專注於傳遞事件和當地神話中的記憶，這些記憶是他在拉達克偏遠村莊長大的回憶而發展，他被後工業時代的噪音和令人不安的電子設備所影響，而加以融合在他的創作中。而他在今年的 “CTM Festival :Transformation”參與了線上的«黑客實驗室多語言演出»的項目 {Quz民hi辩 क्शन化證कॉ} https://youtu.be/gb2SoniqlCI

目前他在香港的HKCR線上電台進駐，他的節目《The Hounds of Pamir》在他自己的節目中，取材於零度以下的氣候、以當地的聲音採集和絲綢之路的音景，進一步擴展到邀請來自各地的藝術家們，在全球範圍內展示了與無數場景、集體和個人的合作。

Ruhail Qaisar is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist and producer from Ladakh, India. His work focuses on sound art and experimental filmmaking. He has been performing all over India since 2016 under his previous moniker “Sister”.

As a musician, he explores the confines of memory, intergenerational trauma, and the operational swarm of the unconscious through the incorporation of vernacular poetic gestures and improvisation.

The work serves to transmit memories carried through events and local mythos as developed through his recollections of growing up in the remote villages of Ladakh, disturbed with spastic barrages of post-industrial noise and unnerving power-electronics.He also participated remotely in the “Musicmakers Hacklab” at “CTM Festival: Transformation 2021” . With the highlight being the multilingual feedback loop performance piece {Quz民hi辩 क्शन化證कॉ}

He is currently a resident at HKCR with his show The Hounds of Pamir, which started as 60-minute live sets drawing from sub-zero climes, local field recordings, and Silk Route travel journals, further branching into inviting guests from all over the globe showcasing collaboration with myriad scenes, collectives, and individuals despite the inaccessibility and the limitations of the pandemic.

郵資不足Insufficient Postage - 音樂實驗劇場Music Experimental Theatre

2018年8月10日，地平線航空（Horizon Air）機械員工29歲理查羅素（ Richard Russell），突然開走一架龐巴迪Dash 8 Q400客機，機上雖然沒有其他乘客，但軍方出動2架F-15戰機想要阻止未果，最後羅素自殺式墜毀在附近華盛頓州科特羅島（Ketron island）上，當場身亡。空中交通管制員要求他降落時，他說：「我不知道。」他補充：「並沒有計劃過怎麼降落。」

飛行是潛藏於人類心底千百年來最深處、最久遠的渴望之一，每人心中皆有一個在如此的夢想。為著飛機離開地面而慶祝後，人才意識到實現夢想原是個旅程，而起飛只是個起點。怎樣在繼續空中停留，怎樣回到地面，怎樣抵抗現實的地心吸力，種種的現實問題，在離開地面後才會意識到。站在飛機殘骸前，只有自己才知道，這一切是否值得。

話梅鹿樂隊的第三張專輯"Insuffiient Postage"，以是次事故作啟發，創作出三首純音樂，兩首不同語言的歌與兩段環境聲效。音樂本身可以表達的內容有限，需要更多藝術媒介與觀眾溝通，將各種不同範疇藝術結合而成一個完整的演出。科技作為引線，由音樂穿針。包括但不限於互動戲劇，音樂，裝置藝術，Audiovisual art 等元素，將意志、選擇、個人責任發現自我和生命的意義的意念，以藝術方式跟觀眾作對話。

A few months ago, I took the initiative to explore a “secret” passion of mine w/ http://instagram.com/socookiecutters & what came out of that experience is a very personal record called “Crave”. THANK U @socookiecutters for helping to make my vision a reality. I literally
sent them pages upon pages of notes + ideas💡📝 & together we made something incredibly magical. ✨💚🔥

When you listen to “Crave”, I want you to notice the subtle nuances that have been layered into the song for the intelligent listener. “Crave” is part fun catchy pop record; part social commentary. It was important to me that this song was “shiny” on the outside for the masses, but w/ a real undercurrent of darker themes & metaphors. The song is an allegory for the dangerously sweet & intoxicating world of social media- an addictive world that is CRAVED by so many👁I wanted to touch on themes of self doubt (& overcoming the doubts of others!), social masks, hyper materialism, insecurities, the need for constant validation & all of the ‘interesting’ personality types that the algorithm (literally) produces. How far will 1 go for likes?❤️It’s a rabbit hole of a song w/ universal themes that people from all walks of life can relate to🌘🌑In terms of the sound, I wanted the song to pay tribute to the pop sounds of 2000’s mixed in w/ some 80’s influences; @socookiecutters put in that fire!🔥sonically, I wanted “heaven” -conceptually I wanted “hell” 😈😇hence the cryptic instastories that you might have seen leading up to the http://instagram.com/hanvii mystery

This song chronicles the journey of a boy who battles personal demons & overcomes mountains in order to ascend through the world of social media, but all isn’t what it seems. (Or is it?) The song is meant to be enjoyed like a movie & the ending has a bit of a “twist” that I think will really f*ck w/ ur mind.😈(it will probably require some explanation on my behalf in a later video as it isn't immediately apparent) so proud of this song! The Kunio-kun (くにおくん) series is a video game series started by Technōs Japan. The series is now handled by Arc System Works who purchased all of the intellectual property rights from Technōs' spiritual successor, Million Corp. The first game in the series is fully titled Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-kun (Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun 熱血硬派くにおくん), which roughly translates to "Hot Blood Tough Guy Kunio", with Nekketsu being the name of Kunio's high school. The kun suffix after his name is an informal Japanese honorific usually applied to young males.

The series originated in the arcades and the Famicom console; its title and its protagonist, Kunio (variously renamed "Alex" and "Crash Cooney" in the United States), were named after Technōs Japan's former president, Kunio Taki. Along with that, Kunio also later became Technōs Japan's main mascot, appearing on the company's logo in several games and television commercials. Although the original game was created by Yoshihisa Kishimoto — who later designed Double Dragon — many of the later games (particularly those under the Downtown Nekketsu moniker) were the handiwork of two men: Mitsuhiro "Yoshimitsu" Yoshida and Hiroyuki "Mokeke" Sekimoto.

A few of the early Kunio games for the NES were localized for the North American market. These include Renegade, River City Ransom, Super Dodge Ball, Crash 'n' the Boys: Street Challenge and Nintendo World Cup, which were heavily "Americanized" versions of the Kunio-kun games. Technōs Japan has released over twenty Kunio-kun titles for the Famicom, Game Boy, and Super Famicom in Japan. In addition, licensed ports of the games were made for other platforms such as the PC-Engine (through Naxat Soft), Mega Drive (through Pal Soft) and the Sharp X68000 (through Sharp).
