I’ve been taking a sort of extended break from posting actual photos on IG for a while, and I think that just comes from the natural fatigue of doing anything consistently for a while. When I started IG at the end of 2018, I posted religiously every two days. That became three, and then four. Now it’s become a couple times a month, and only then if I’m feeling particularly inspired. It’s the feeling of starting any kind of new passion project - a website, a business, a fitness plan…eventually the novelty and motivation takes a hit, and that’s completely normal. I try not to subscribe to hustle culture but that ish is really hard to shake off. How do you feel like you subscribe to hustle culture - the pressure to monetize your hobbies, feel bad when you’re relaxing, turn everything you can into income? In recent years, she has researched the yoik tradition of her family by studying old archive recordings. Yoik is a form of traditional vocal music of the Sámi. As a result of this work, she with her ensemble created the multi-form work of art called Nieguid duovdagat – Dreamscapes, in which yoik, the sound of the Finnish bowed lyre jouhikko and modern live electronics are combined with live visuals. The music of the entity was released as an album in February 2021. Ánnámáret gets inspiration to her music from the arctic nature in Sápmi and the Sámi culture and way of living. She makes music and lives on the tundra with her family who are reindeer-herders.
