Anh từng chia sẻ lý do một cách chân thực và thẳng thắn: “Khi mình quảng cáo cho một doanh nghiệp nào đó, thì mình mang hình ảnh của mình, uy tín của mình, mời gọi tất cả người dân Việt yêu thương mình, mua hàng của họ. Nhưng nếu một ngày không đẹp trời, lộ ra rằng mình đã quảng cáo cho giá sữa tăng gấp 8 lần cho trẻ con nước mình, hoặc quảng cáo sữa có chất melamine, sữa có chất gây ung thư cho trẻ em Việt, hoặc quảng cáo cho rau sạch mà phun đẫm thuốc sâu... thì cái mặt mình nó chui vào đâu? Hơn 30 năm lao động nghệ thuật không mệt mỏi của mình chẳng nhẽ lại đánh đổi mấy đồng đó thôi sao?".

Cố nghệ sĩ nói thêm: "Đối với Giang Còi tiền quan trọng, Giang Còi cần tiền nhưng không phải làm tất cả vì tiền dù có nhiều lúc trong túi không một đồng" …
