Today marks the last day of my husband's 2 weeks leave. He's complaining that he didnt get to rest at all in this 2 weeks! I cant disagree. It is often more tiring looking after a child all day than going to work. Especially when it's her birthday week! I'm glad we had this 2 weeks though. It was tiring no doubt, but we had spent it so productively with lots of family activities! We are spent, but to see her grinning from ear to ear, and jumping with joy (literally) whenever we are out, makes it all worth it. That is what gives me strength and energy to wake up every morning and to plan the day for her. Darling, have u forgotten that u married a very ON wife? Haha! What I'm gonna miss the most is definitely our almost-daily picnic. It's nowhere fancy - just the park in front of our house. Eating nothing fancy - just different variety of oats that she eats every morning. While she eats her oats, I'll eat my BCM from the nearby coffeeshop, in a bowl no less(picnic with style Lol!). And @deon.woo will have his toast. We will hang out at the park, play with her human friends and furry friends. She'll play ball or crawl around the grass patch with them. This morning @jojoleeyl and @kiaanvithal came by too for a short play! Ah, simple pleasures. But so precious. [Beijing] Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty is a known Casanova who had many concubines, but he was also a caring father (to most of his children). Today along Zhang Zizhong Road (张自忠路), you will see a simple looking door with ancient Chinese features, it used to be the residence of Princess Hejing (固伦和敬公主) after she was married. Princess Hejing was the daughter of Emperor Qianlong and Empress Xiaoxian (孝贤皇后) and was given the highest rank among princesses. According to the imperial system, there were 2 grades of titles for the emperor’s daughter, if her mother is the empress, she would be given the first grade, and if she is born to a concubine, usually she will be given the second. Of course those that were born to princes, dukes and marquises would have lower ranks. Princess Hejing was married to Monglian prince Septeng Baljur, it was clearly a marriage of convenience, to secure the support from the Mongolian royals. As part of the arrangement, the Princess would follow her husband back to Mongolia but the Emperor missed her so much that he bent the rules and allow the couple to live in Beijing, thus the residence along Zhang Zizhong Road. Today, I show you a conversation between Princess Atsu and Ikushima before she marries Shōgun Tokugawa Iesada. One of the duties when becoming a wife of a shōgun is, you need to bear an heir as soon as possible. Ikushima seems pushing Princess Atsu to have a child with Shōgun Iesada once she gets married with him bc looking at how carefree Princess Atsu is, Ikushima may be like, “This girl cannot be trusted! I need to push her!” 😂😂😂 But yeah, the original intention was to help Princess Atsu’s adoptive father; Shimazu Nariakira politically. If I need to explain about Japan’s politics during Edo period here, it’d be quite long so maybe next time. And yep, there’s a scene where Ikushima shows Princess Atsu a guide of how to bear a child lol and ofc Princess Atsu was feeling embarrassed 😂 Ikushima is strict but at the same time she’s lowkey a funny attendant 🤣 Didn’t she aware that Princess Atsu was old enough to know about those things? 🤣
