【Czech Republic 🇨🇿 Prague】Czechia’s National Museum (Národní Muzeum) is located on the upper end of Wenceslas Square (Václavské Náměstí) in Prague, established after the French Revolution in 1818. It is The country’s oldest museum and has the most exhibits - housing nearly 14 million items of natural history, history, arts, music and librarianship. . It was built by a prominent Czech neo-renaissance architect Josef Schulz from 1885 - 1891. The interior is beautifully adorned in classic European bourgeois style with elaborated details and gold leaves. . The museum has brought about an intellectual shift in Prague. The Bohemian nobility had, until this time, been prominent, both politically and fiscally, in scholarly and scientific groups. Thanks to National Museum, royal and private collections of art, science and culture were made available to the commoners, ending the era when knowledge was only made available for nobility. . The New Building of the museum which has already been opened in 2019 hasn’t got any impressive exhibition yet, but the looooooooooong tunnel connecting the two buildings is a must-see: it is a continuous projection art that shows the history of Prague through the animation of Wenceslas Square’s transforming street view, interestingly from Prehistoric times, through Austro-hungarian Empire, WWI, WWII, USSR Occupation, Velvet Revolution, Czech independence, to now.
