二○二○年十二月份，美國《時代雜誌》總結當年的年度大事時，將台灣的「中職開打」選入「最初與最後」（Firsts & Lasts）年表單元，為這艱困的一年畫下了句號。
這一年，也是吳志揚擔任中職會長的最後一個球季。

事實上，二○一四年當中職尋找下一任會長時，他並非主要的人選。
那時的吳志揚方才卸下公職，中職則正在努力起飛，同時積累了勞資爭議、球員薪資條件、球團智財權、球員肖像權及媒體轉播權等，許多未決的法律訴訟與法務工作。
身為一名律師，他熟稔合約和法律文件的處理，基於對自身專業的信心，吳志揚同意接任會長，並期許自己能為聯盟提供協助。

在職棒三十一年落幕的時刻，他也完成了這本著作，並以此總結過去六年來中職教會自己的一切。在書中，他用十二個棒球場上常見的數字術語作為引子，鋪陳出十二段和中職有關的領導故事。本書的核心，主要在闡述前中職會長吳志揚於六年在職期間，所展現的十二個關鍵領導能力。

他認為，一位成功的領導者必須：
能溝通、夠關心、有態度、EQ高、抓準定位、
提出願景、做足準備、堅持到底；
既能捍衛法治，也能激發新創意；
有大方向，也能抓小細節，並促成各方團結合作。

而這些關鍵的領導能力，就像棒球場上的各個攻守位置，共同為完成贏球的目標而努力。
該如何在適當的時機，將這些能力分配至需要的位置，就是他過去這六年來的工作重點。

回首這段滿載回憶與感激的旅程，作者自承經歷了不少起落，但也獲益良多。
吳志揚建議讀者，
若能試著從另一個角度去思考眼前面對的問題，
就有機會將可能的負面結果轉化成正面的成功力量。
他把自身的思考寫下來，希望有助其他人在職場和人生中，
作為參考。

Currently, there are restrictions on normal life in Bangkok.
