Indonesian Marines Corps AAV-7 Assault Amphibious Vehicle Jumps off a pier at high speed. Often times they are just refereed to as AAVs or “Amtracks.” The AAV-7 (formerly known as Landing Vehicle, Tracked, Personnel-7 or LVTP-7) was originally designed and built by United Defense (now part of BAE Systems Land and Armaments) and is been used by the USMC and a dozen other marine corps from around the globe. It is used by Marines to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore. Marines call them "amtracks," a shortening of their original designation, "amphibious tractor."
