We held the 2020 National Day Awards Investiture Ceremony today. We postponed the ceremony last year due to the pandemic, so I was glad we could now present the awards in-person, split over two sessions for everyone’s safety.

Every year, we honour those who have made significant contributions to Singapore through the National Day Awards. Leading this year’s recipients is a familiar name: Professor S Jayakumar, who receives our highest civilian honour — the Order of Temasek (with High Distinction).

In a long and distinguished public service career spanning almost 50 years, he has played many roles — as a diplomat, holding different portfolios in Cabinet including DPM and Senior Minister, and MP for East Coast GRC.

Prof Jayakumar has played a vital role protecting our national interests on important and sensitive bilateral issues, such as the Singapore-Malaysia Water Agreements and the Pedra Branca dispute. He has continued to do so, even after retiring from politics. His wisdom and advice has been invaluable.

There are also many individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions during this Covid-19 pandemic. We will be recognising them in a separate list of awards in due course.

Due to the pandemic, the Investiture ceremony of this year’s awards will be postponed till next year.

Today The Queen conferred the Honour of Knighthood on Captain Tom Moore at an Investiture at Windsor Castle.

‪In April, World War Two veteran, Captain Sir Tom Moore embarked on 100 laps of his garden with the aim to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together and has now raised over £32 million for the NHS, and inspired so many people along the way. ‬

‪Today Captain Sir Tom Moore’s incredible fundraising achievements were recognised with a Knighthood.‬

The Queen awarded Captain Sir Tom Moore with his insignia of Knight Bachelor, after knighting him with the sword that belonged to her father, King George VI.

UST Faculty of Pharmacy Graduation.

There are only few people who are blessed to sing during Pharma's graduation and I was blessed to be chosen.
