[Mukden Palace, Shenyang] The Yongfu Palace (永福宫) was where the Concubine Zhuang (庄妃) had lived in before the Qing empire moved their capitol to Beijing.
There were 4 palaces built for Huang Taiji’s (皇太极) four most favoured concubines, although they are almost identical and have the same architectural designs, their hosts had different statuses depending on the locations of their palaces.
During Huang Taiji’s era, all his concubines and the empress were all Mongolians, it was the beginning of strengthening allied relationship between Manchu and Mongolia by means of intermarriage.
Of the four, Concubine Zhuang was of the lowest status among the four concubines but she turn out to be the most famous one as she gave birth to a boy who became the first emperor after the Qing dynasty unified the entire empire later in 1644. Emperor Shunzhi (in the last picture) was born in Yongfu Palace. 📍Shenyang, China. 中国沈阳市。🇨🇳
