    Meet Him in the Middle

“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.” Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.” He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.” (Matthew‬ ‭14:22-29‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

There is a beautiful allusion to the Rapture in the passage above.

Jesus went up into the high mountain alone to pray, after sending the disciples ahead of Him.

This is like how He ascended to Heaven, and is now in God’s sanctuary in the heavenly Mount Zion, interceding for us before the Father.

On earth, we are sent by the Lord to share the Gospel. It is a stormy world tainted by sin and death.

Then, at a dark time in the world (fourth watch), Jesus will come for us, right before the worst (Great Tribulation) hits the earth.

He will come down from Heaven, to be in midair.

The archangel’s trumpet will sound, and at the final blast, the dead in Christ will be raised to life, and we (the saints) will all be transformed. Our mortal bodies will become immortal glorified bodies.

Then, we will be like Peter who went over to Jesus. Jesus will catch us up into the air, using the power by which He can subdue all things to Himself. We will meet Him in the middle—between Heaven and earth’s surface.

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” (Philippians‬ ‭3:20-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Instead of focusing on the wind and waves which will produce fear and anxiety, keep your eyes on Jesus in the Scriptures. His return is imminent, and every born-again believer will be going up!

See your Problems as Opportunities for God

Two different believers can be experiencing the same kind of challenge; one may be complaining about the problem and feeling fearful, while the other is praising Jesus that His grace is perfectly demonstrated in his weakness.

Who will experience the deliverance? I believe it’s both—God is faithful to us even when we are faithless, and Jesus is interceding to the Father on our behalf in Heaven. I believe that His perfect faith will uphold us in times of need.

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful. For he can’t deny himself.”” (2 Timothy‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Take note, I’m talking about God delivering believers from their troubles. I’m not saying that unbelievers can be saved even when they don’t have faith in Jesus.

While waiting for the eventual breakthrough, why should we be fearful, worried, losing sleep, losing hair, destroying the relationships with our loved ones by venting our frustrations on them?

Don’t let the enemy steal your joy and peace. See your current problem as the best opportunity right now for God to display His awesome power in your life. Expect to see a miraculous deliverance.

““For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says Yahweh who has mercy on you.” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:9-10‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God is not angry with you. His grace is always with you. You are eternally saved. Expect good things to come.

You may not see a way out, and you are too incapable of solving the problem, but He can do it. Praise Him and give Him all the glory!

Alas, the lectures here in TTC will all be in Chinese as the language situation is finalized tonight. I just realized that they have a policy of letting the languages take turn for every other convocation lecture series. It's past 2 am and I've been on the road for more than 20 hours. It's one hour before World Cup Final kickoff. Hmmm, should I stay up all night to watch? Meanwhile, I upload my short blog on prayer for you. https://engagescriptures.wordpress.com/…/interceding-effec…/

Eddie House said Thursday that he hadn't gone headhunting for Allen Iverson on Wednesday night and seemed to resent the implication by the Philadelphia 76er star that he had.

"I ain't no dirty player," he said. "I don't play dirty."

House, in his first start at guard for the Clippers, provoked a reaction from Iverson that longtime observers said they had rarely, if ever, seen.

Iverson became enraged after absorbing a blow to the head from House while driving to the basket in the second quarter of a 100-80 76er victory. The NBA scoring leader took off after the Clipper guard, only to be restrained by teammate John Salmons, who wrapped Iverson in his arms.

Later, the 76er guard thanked Salmons for interceding because "only God knows" what might have happened if he'd reached House, who was called for a flagrant foul after the officials changed their initial ruling of a two-shot foul.

Iverson, who scored 20 points, said House had hit him in the face in the first quarter, "and I didn't pay it no mind."

"But I knew he was still coming, and I had the easy layup, and then he hit me in the head. I really don't care when guys hit me in my arms, my chest, my leg, anything like that real hard. But when you hit me in my face or my head, it's a different story. It was a hard foul.

"Afterward, he kept saying, 'It was just a hard foul, it was just a hard foul.' Well, it was a flagrant foul, so obviously it wasn't just a hard foul. I just didn't like it. And I wanted to let him know I didn't like it."

House got the message but didn't understand the commotion.

"I was playing basketball," he said Thursday. "I don't care how he took it. It wasn't like I was going after him, trying to do it....

"If he took it like that, that's how he took it. I can't help that. I can't dictate how somebody else is going to take something, you know what I mean?"

    He didn't seem threatened.

"That just fed into his ego," he said of Iverson's postgame comments. "I guess he had to say something, like he was really going to do something."
